Personally, I love the looks of fogs so much, I would never get rid of them. What if you put the screen on like you just did, and then put the fogs back? Maybe the metal mesh would protect the glass of the fog light? Just a suggestion

LED fog lights

But your solution is a good one too.

I do like those!

You don't need to ride around with them on 100% of the time either. Reducing the chances of hot/cold expansion and contraction.

This is my second car I've wired to have the fogs on with the ignition. The other one is still going strong with his foglights wired like this. I keep in touch with him still.

You should do the same screen over the HE opening, looks good.

I'm playing with the idea. i want to see how these hold up. Gonna make another set over christmas break and have them powdercoated and see how those last. I need a new HE anyway. Mine is bent a little and beat to hell.

I think you should have got some fisher price fog lights and put them in there since you can't seem to handle real ones. It would look much better with the fogs in but that isn't bad looking.

Ha! Real ones were pretty hard to handle. You think fisher price makes angel eye ones ;). I'll stick with the mesh

I have no F'ing idea!!!! HAHAHA!!!! Its ridiculous!! I had one spare left, leaving me with two intact fog lights. I'll give those to the next owner to put them back in if he/she so chooses, but 6 was my limit.

Lol, well you have been through a lot with that car so if it was going to happen to someone, it's going to happen to you. I haven't broken any in my car (knock wood) and hopefully never will.

Would you be able to put the mesh about 1/2 inch in front of the fogs? That way you still have your light for night driving and it is protected. I wonder how that would look?

i like the look but i like the fog lights. im wondering how much time and effort it would take to put the mesh in from off the light so it looked as if it weren't there but you could still use them...

guess i should have read the post above mine... opps lol

I know one was the victim for sure of an 18 wheeler. Two lanes over actually. I saw the rock come off it, go across two lanes and toward the bumper. I knew right away I had lost the light. Sure enough, it was broken. :bash:

HA! So true sadly. This poor car has been through a lot! Crossing my fingers that the rocks don't start "seeking" out other things to break ;-)

Came out great. Sucks like others said, at 3 I woulda said **** it.

HAHA! My wife said screw it after two! I was pretty insistent on keeping the lights. After the last set, I was pretty fed up with it. I had HID's in them at the inner part of the light had to be "shaved" every single time for the bulbs to go in. Not a hard, job, but pretty time consuming. Shave a little, try the bulb, shave a little, try the bulb.....until it worked.

I know its not everybody's cup of tea, but I'm actually pretty happy with the results.

This is from a couple minutes ago

I played with that idea at first, but the whole idea was to make it reversible. To be completely honest, I'm not sure how much longer I'm going to be keeping the car. Life is changing a lot right now and it might be fairly soon.

I could get the mesh in front of it by cutting the bezel. It would be a little tricky to install, but I would just have to bend some tabs to get it to stay in place and then just cut them when I wanted it removed. I think the Lamin-X is a better solution to the breakage.

One of mine was broke when I got it...I guess that's what happens when you don't have those cheap GT ones

ha

I think someone is messing with you.

I have had a couple people tell me this. This was the worst of all of them. They are breaking random times and in different places, so they would have to be following me. Ironically enough, I've seen the rocks a couple times. Go figure.
