Well I updated the OS to 5.0 and it's been decent since, but I've had it for awhile now and I have an upgrade available, ready to chuck this thing at this point.

Just not sure if I should go with Evo or Droid X.

I do like the Evo though because it's one-piece, instead of a flip out keyboard (just seems like it would be easier to break having a Droid X)

Flip out keyboard???

You have an S1?

My Tracfone Pre-Pay cell phone makes your turd-powered Droid phones look a pile of elephant dung on a rainy day!

My bad, I thought the Droid X had a slide-out keyboard like the first Droid. Guess not?

Yes I have an S1 but it is a touchscreen....was talking about the droid when I mentioned flip out keyboard (meant to say slide out lol)

Now that I know there is no physical keyboard on the Droid X, I am leaning more towards the X then the incredible for a new phone. I will wait a bit though until they get the bugs worked out

I don't know if I am the first one or not but my pics have been floating around the web all day . I'm not sure why I got it so early, but I'm one of the lucky ones. This thing is pretty sick and the screen is HUGE. I will still need a few days to get used to this thing as it my first Android phone, but I like it so far :-D.

How mush was it? How did u order it, its not even on the verizon webiste to preorder?

EVO- Sprint, 1 ghz Snapdragon, 4.3" Screen, HTC Sense, 4G capable, HTC
Incredible- Verizon, 1 ghz Snapdragon, 3.7" Screen, HTC Sense, HTC
Droid X- Verizon, 1 ghz TI OMAP (supposedly much faster stock and more overclock potential), 4.3" Screen, Vanilla Android with Blur widgets, Motorola
thanks mang! so basically, they are damn near equals, lol.

I don't know if the EVO does or not but the incredible and X will have it with the Android 2.2/Froyo update coming pretty soon.

I keep hearing about "Froyo". What exactly is it? I am going to do a Google search, but for the immediate benefit of those interested in knowing what it is could you post a quick answer? And how will Froyo benefit me as an Incredible user? Thanks.

EDIT: Ah, just learned it is the code name for Android 2.2.

Pretty much. The only real difference is that the X will get software upgrades MUCH faster than the other two because it runs Vanilla Android instead of HTC Sense, but some people like the Sense UI enough to put up with that, it's a to each their own type of deal.

Loren, I'm glad there are Android phones available with and without Sense. I've only used Androids with Sense, so I'm hooked. I love it. Wife does, too. I totally agree that updates to the OS come quicker without Sense because it takes Google more time to blend it in.

So does anyone know when the 2.2 update hits the original Droid? Sorry if I missed it somewhere else in the thread.

As do I, next time I probably will try a Vanilla phone though.

Soon. It is next on the list after the Nexus One and that was just officially released 2 weeks or so ago. There are already leaked versions out there though that might not be your style.

Whats the difference between sense and blur?

Sense is HTC's custom user interface and Blur is Motorola's. Sense has been around a lot longer and is leaps and bounds more smoothly integrated and useful.

I was never much a fan of blur but i think they have refined it, as long as my droid gets the 2.2 update ill be happy, already got hd dolphin browser in anticipation.

Ive got two room mates with those apple phone things and they dont like that mine does and theirs dont.

So how many of yall will contribute to crashing verizons network when 2.2 with flash comes and porn becomes available?

Check out the Incredible. It's about the same size with a bigger screen, 3.7". I agree with you, the X looks nice, but it's friggin huge, same with the EVO.

if i'm not mistaken the evo and incredible are not scheduled 2.2 updates till near the end of the year. of course unless your root'd then it should be sooner if not already. I'm really excited for the droid x i'm not sure if I want to switch to verizon i'll have to see if I can get a discount and if I like the phone first. I have an hd2 now and its nice but i'm getting tired of the WM I've done the customizing thing to my last 4 WM phones and all pretty much can do the same thing. I thin its time for some android in my life.. haha
