The land of commies and socialists!
At what point is Fain morally obligated to allowing membership to vote on the proposals that are being presented?
This is something I don't understand.

At my job no matter what management proposes it is brought to us for a vote. Even when it's complete BS and nobody in their right mind will vote yes on it.

  • The United Auto Workers Saturday night expanded its strike against General Motors (NYSE:GM) to include a Tennessee engine factory that is the automaker's largest facility in North America.
  • UAW President Shawn Fein authorized the expansion in Spring Hill as GM has yet to follow in the footsteps of Ford Motor (F) and Stellantis (STLA) in reaching agreements with the union, Reuters reported.
  • The Spring Hill facility employs around 4K workers.
  • Engines and other components made in Spring Hill are then sent to nine assembly plants, according to Reuters.

I’m beyond thrilled with the contract but still awaiting final details

However… some of my coworkers are big mad!, they think it’s bullshit to wait 4.5 years to get the full raise and seem very focused on healthcare after retirement and are upset there is nothing for that.

I would’ve took the 1st offer with a 9% raise so this is all gravy to me.

The raise aspect is how it always works though.

I heard Ford was using a nondisclosed amount of non union workers to run the Kentucky plant.

Now this interests me. Any details?

My old boss in Charleston at Boeing when I worked there told a story when he worked at Boeing in Everette. Said they went on strike and Boeing fired them all. Started training new people and said if they wanted a job there it would cost them a lower pay. Most of them took as he did.

I'm not sure that would get past the Feds now.

Higher retail prices on the way for consumers?

If the gov would just cut out all the EV related mandates/subsidies prices would actually lower quite a bit.

Wait a ****ing minute...my health insurance company is affected by the UAW strike?

Blue Cross remains open during work stoppage by bargaining unit employees

Here is some important information about a work stoppage with our UAW-represented workforce that has occurred at Blue Cross. Blue Care Network is not included in the work stoppage.
While we work to reach a labor agreement with the UAW, please be assured that we will continue to pay health care claims during this time, and doctors, hospitals, pharmacies and other health care providers can continue to submit health care and prescription drug claims.
We will maintain processing of claims, billings and open enrollment changes. Customer Service telephone assistance will be available, although hold times may be longer than normal.
