He obviously knew he didn't magically acquire $310k. This man would steal your car if the keys were left in it. If he walked in the bank and the vault was open with $310k sitting there and he took it would he be a criminal or just someone taking advantage of the banks mistake of leaving the vault open? In the end it was his mistake for stealing the money, and he should have to pay dearly since he stole more than he will ever be able to pay off, and he knew it when he took it.

but is it really stealing? the Bank is the one that made the error and put the money in his account.

he didn't take it by force, he didn't walk in somewhere pickup a duffel bag full of cash and then walk out.

would anyone feel differently if the brinks truck had gotten the wrong address, and just left $310K on his front door step?

sure it wasn't his money, but that's not his fault.

morally, it's wrong. ethically it's wrong. but is it legally wrong? is there any law that says you have to give back money that was erroneously given to you?

what if you find money on the side of the road?

bigger question, had he called BoA and reported it, and said this money's not mine, would BoA have rewarded him for doing the right thing?

If you read the article, they didn't put the money in his account. He had $300 in his account. He kept purposefully over drafting his account to get the money. So he intentionally stole it. When you take something that you know doesn't belong to you it is theft.

If you never lock your doors and a theif keeps stealing your shit, don't bitch about it being stolen. Banks **** over people daily. I think it's awsome. One thing I remember about BoA back several years. Is when I had to go in there, the amount of Mexicans in there that had no ID yet were cashing checks. :dw: So they lost 1.5 mil....**** em!

Surprised that nobody has tried to go after the casino to get the money back, in this age of stupidness...

They are not liable. They didn't make the bank error and they don't force people to keep gambling.

Personally I would have put all of the money in Gold, waited 15 days then sold the stocks and redeposited the original funds. At the rate Gold rises and falls he easily could have made 100k. Not bad for 15 days worth of sitting around.

Dumb = either not reading the article or not comprehending it. I am sure you are smart enough that you could merge two banks without any mistakes being made.

"The glitch reportedly occurred because Page originally had a banking account with LaSalle Bank. When Bank of America acquired LaSalle, the glitch somehow occurred while the two banking institutions were transferring account information."
