I went ahead and detailed a friend's GT Mustang. He ended up getting it for a killer deal, it has low miles but it had some swirls and surface scratches.
It was in need of paint correction. I figured I'd share with the mustang community since I know how OCD some of use mustang / prior mustang owners can be. Nothing like owning and maintaining a FLAWLESS STANG.

Car was Washed with Blue Dawn and foam cannon
Decon: Iron X
Sonax Full Effect rim cleaner
Meguiar's APC on fender wells
Clay Magic blue clay
Surbuf - M100
Microfiber pad (polish) - D300
Microfiber pad (finishing) - PO106fa
LC Black pad - PO85rd
CarPro Eraser
LSP: Optimum Opti-coat Pro

I used and LED with 277 Lumens
Buffer: Rupes 21 / Rupes LHR-75

CG Metal Shine on exhaust tips
Rejex for the rims

Came out nicely and he was happy.

looks great. thats a lot of work!

Started it one evening, spent the entire next day, and finished it the following day late morning...
All the Cutting / compounding was finished by the 2nd day. Few redbulls and listening to Spotify helps.
Total time was approx 2 full days. 16-18 hours

Great job, man. I always enjoy seeing a transformation of a car that gets a proper detail job. I'd say the paint looks better than new. It's amazing just how many cars come off transport and the paint is already garbage. It doesn't help that most dealership have horrible make ready detailers that have no idea how to correctly clean a car.

^^^^you hit the nail on those detailers....When I buy new...I tell them to not take the car to make ready, will do it myself....

All those long hours pay off nicely. Im still a newbie in this aspect but im learning, did a 6 hour job on my BMW and even though it was my first time, i loved how it came out, lots of swirl marks came out and looked extremely shiny. Gonna do another run this weekend and start earlier.

Great job O.P! She looks beautiful!

A job well done.

What can someone expect to pay for such a service? (ballpark figure)

Good luck to you as well and take some pics!

To O.P You transformed that Sally! great job!

I would like to learn to better detail my car. A really good washing (in all the nooks and crannies yes!... I wash wheel wells and door jams etc.) and a thorough interior wipe down is all I can muster. I get lost in what products to use and when, basically I need to find a write up.

I also need to do an engine detail (never detailed it in all the time I've owned it) as I want to show off my TVS. :coolman:

Depending on location, reputation, and what is used ie: glass coating / ceramic coating etc. will be a factor in cost.

A minor Paint Correction procedure could run you average $45-$65 an hour if the specialist charges by the hour.

If not hourly, some people 'like me' will have a fixed cost of what it will cost after the vehicle is seen. So, it varies, Anywhere between $500-$1000 for the correction. Here in Baton Rouge, LA not a whole lot of people will spend an astronomical amount of money whereas in various parts of Florida, Jersey, or Los Angeles people will spend much much more. I know of someone that averages $1500 a car! He charges $350 for a nano coating alone.
