like all manufacturers they look at what it will cost in potential warranty claims vs using a more expensive part in production. Honestly its a ****ing miracle the Hellcat, let alone Demon got past the bean counters to begin with. I imagine Dodge will probably end up covering most of these guys, they love the publicity the demon has generated on youtube, instagram etc and they certainly don't want a lot of bad press out there.
Case in point there was a guy here in h-town that got his Hellcat motor replaced, pseudo youtube celebrity with a lot of kill videos..Clearly he was pushing the car hard and often, later came out he was spraying it too...Dodge took care of him.

You really don't hear about a lot of Mt82 gen 2 failures. Now, the Gen three has a serious fork issue that is being addressed. I rail on mine and it is by far the best manual I have ever had.
As much as they have improved the MT82 its still not the transmission they want in anything other than the v6,EcoBoost, 5.0. Just basic run of the mill cars. As if it was actually good it would of made it to the gt500/gt350. Because its by far cheaper to use than tremecs.

It is still a better transmission than what was in my 2014 GT500.

I cant agree. But maybe you had a bad apple. I wasnt impressed with the MT82 i had. My 08 gt500 shifts much better. No lock out or blown 5th gear.

I hear ya. I got 4 hybrid Tremec synchro rings, a 1-2 Synchro and fork, complete bearing kit and a 2nd gear idler that need to be installed. Its a systemic issue with Camaros and Challengers too. The 1-2 grind is much more pronounced in the GT500 because of the supercharged power output.

Its a bit rediculous that I need a new shifter, trans fluid, upgraded synchronizer rings and a WOT box to hit 1-2 upshifts under full power. But the alternative is a Lenco or an autoswap. Its cheaper to rebuild the TR6060 with the upgraded rings and new bearings.

The 1-2 synchro and 1-2 fork and 2nd idler gear are for my peace of mind. I may get froggy and get idler gears 1, 3 and a new input shaft (4th).

Eh, Ive had some legalish dealings with Ford. My car was down for warranty repairs the first 3 months I owned it (transmission; waiting for parts and a really screwball drivability problem). I called Ford customer care just to get an escalation for a Ford field engineer to inspect my car.

Not only did they expedite an engineer, they offered me a full buyback on my car without even me inquiring about it. Based on the time down that they found investigating my issue, I could have turned my 2011 into a 2014. And I though about it too, but I could only find 2 untitled new 2014 GT500s in California (where I lived at the time) and the options that were not covered by the buyback (track pack, nav, glass roof etc.) would have pushed my payment beyond what I could comfortably afford.

Ultimately, the engineer helped figure out what was wrong with my car and Ive had not a single drivability issue since. Well, at least one I didnt induce myself lol.

Im sure for every case like mine with Ford, there's a horror story. But For ford to step up like that for the 3rd owner of a used GT500.... I was damn pleased with Ford. I still am.

FCA has been shitting the bed with Jeep owners over issues with the 3.6 Pentastar, wouldnt surprise me if they told these owners that shelled out COIN for these Demons to pound it. If they are smart, they buck up and make these guys happy.

I would have told them to order me the model exactly how I want and give me a loaner until it comes in.

The 6060 in my GT500 was a bit notchy compared to my MT82 in the 2014 car. Throws were also noticably longer in the 6060.

Overall, i liked both transmissions, though i'd say the 6060 would be preferred for a high HP build.

This was in 2015. GT500 production and all S197 production had been stopped for well over a year. Only thing I could have gotten beside the 2 untitled GT500s was a 2015 Premium Mustang GT. The Gen 2 Coyote is a boost whore, but I wanted a GT500. Just couldnt comfortably swing the payment with the options that were not covered by the buy back program for the 2014 GT500.

No shit man.

$77 million in EPA CAFE fines for 2016 missing the fuel economy fleet numbers.

Think you owe the government big? Fiat Chrysler was fined $77 million for missing fuel economy requirements

What's aggravating is the consumer is already getting a big government FU in the butt with the gas guzzler tax on the performance cars.

Dodge dunked their nuts in the punch bowl....meanwhile ford and gm are tripping over themselves to make boring ass CUVs that meet CAFE.

Again until Fiat Chrysler brings out an entry level below $25,000 vehicle I think they just might either shut the doors or get sold off yet again. The other thing is the whole LX platform types need a complete overhaul when the new 2021 and newer crash testing regs take effect.

probably why they are going gangbusters on the LX platform now. Make all the cheap easy money they can. The Demons and all Hellcats arent the reason why FCA paid out its ass in fines. Its trucks and Jeeps arent meeting the standard. Combine that with no real strategy for super fuel efficient models like Toyota and Honda both have.

I think current CAFE regulations are rediculous, but thats not something that can be undone unless Congress acts. Which they wont thanks to the House being in Dem hands.

We can all thank idiot Obama for this. 2025 to hit 54mpg CAFE? Sorry, not realistic. Americans, by their purchasing habits, do not want or desire small economy shit boxes. They certainly have their place, but MANDATING an industry go down that path ****s only one group: The consumer.
