Cruised with some friends last Friday(national holiday in my country).
It was my first time cruise with multi-Cobras in this 8 years, so much fun!

Great photos, and a good looking bunch there. The owners obviously take good care of their rides. That '65 Mustang GT is awesome. Brings back fond memories of the launch of the Mustang back in the day. :)

Great to see a "harras" of Mustangs in Japan.

Are these other Mustangs owned by young, middle aged, or older Ford fans?

Are they all Japanese citizens?

You always post some very scenic pics, I always enjoy them!

Yes that 65 was awesome.
the owner of 96 and 99 are young guys, so I told them don't do ridiculous appearance (Most of Japanese, especialy young people, doing that, sadley...).
I'm glad they can understood.;)

Thanks for your response.

I don't mean to derail your thread, but I'm curious:
- Are there any emissions inspections for your cars in Japan?
- Are there any governmental special taxes, charges, or discounts for your cars because of the age, model, or gas consumption?
- Do you pay once per year for license plates?
- How much (in dollars)?
- Any safety inspections for your cars?
- Is gas sold by the liter or gallon?
- What is the current price? Here in Wisconsin, regular is about $2.40/gallon and premium is $3.00/gallon.
- In Japan, can you buy premium gasoline (91+ octane), or do you have to buy regular and add an octane booster?

It is great to see all those Mustangs over there!

That is very interesting that the horizontal tails are on the '96 Cobra. I wonder why that is. I assumed Mustangs have been exported specifically for Japan for a long time now??? I just figured your Cobra and all the other Mustangs have been imported over there from the US .

I was thinking Ford introducing the newest Mustang to Europe was the first time it has been offered outside North America.

I always love seeing your pictures Yuichi. That's a very diverse group of cars, especially for Japan!

No problem

- Are there any emissions inspections for your cars in Japan?
Yes, we have to receive safety and emissions inspections at registration, after 3 years, and next every 2 years.

- Are there any governmental special taxes, charges, or discounts for your cars because of the age, model, or gas consumption?
Yes, we have to pay tax for getting vehicle when registration, vehicle weight tax when registration and next every inspections, and annually vehicle tax depending on vehicle displacement.
For example, 4.6L is ¥88,000 per year, over 6L is ¥111,000, but 1.3L is ¥34,500, and Japanese special K-cars(660cc) is only ¥10,800.
These vehicle weight tax and annually vehicle tax are cause of Japanese people don't buy American cars.(American cars are heavy weight and have big engine, you know)
Tell your president Trump about this ridiculous Japanese vehicle taxes!
Btw 13 years after registration, annually vehicle tax will raise 15% higher.
We have NO gas guzzler tax over here.

- Do you pay once per year for license plates?
No
But we can buy 4 digits numbers like 76-62 as mine, it's ¥4,000.

- How much (in dollars)?
Calculate Yen to Dollar yourself please.

- Any safety inspections for your cars?
Yes I wrote as above.

- Is gas sold by the liter or gallon?
Liter

- What is the current price? Here in Wisconsin, regular is about $2.40/gallon and premium is $3.00/gallon.
¥127/liter regular
¥137/liter premium
in western Tokyo

- In Japan, can you buy premium gasoline (91+ octane), or do you have to buy regular and add an octane booster?
Buying premium

I think it cause of just delayed of development of vertical tails with amber, or made too much horizontal tails:D.
So vertical tails start from 97 models in my country.
BTW, Ford stopped Japan operation last Fall, it's very sad.:(

Oh that is sad they are closing things up there. Hopefully, if all goes well with the Mustang launch into Europe, they will come back to Japan. At least, however, you were able to get best year of the Cobra before they shut things down.

And yeah they may have actually had too many horizontals left over from the 94/95 Mustangs indeed, ha. I've always loved the '96 - '98 Cobras. At one time I was thinking about getting one myself and putting the 95/94 Cobra spoiler on it (I love the "crab claw" spoiler of those cars with the third brake light in it).

Hey Yuichi, I'm curious, what was the last domestic car you've owned? I remember your 97 Cobra but what did you have before that?

Yeah that's sad, but I bought only 1997 Cobra at new from Ford Japan.
My Terminator found and bought at SVTP in 2009.
Japanese import car dealers(American, European also) don't maintaining any service for individual import cars, so I don't care for closing Ford's Japan operation.
But it is sad thing for my country.

Me too love crab claw spoiler!

Hey Yuichi, I'm curious, what was the last domestic car you've owned? I remember your 97 Cobra but what did you have before that?
My first car was Nissan Bluebird aka Dutsun 910 in U.S. 4dr sedan with auto trans, owned 1989-1991.
It was 10 or more years old car at that time, and has many rusts and engine issues.
001.jpg

Second car was 1991 Nissan Silvia(SR20DE N/A engine) at new car.
I owned it 0from 1991 throuh 1995.
007.jpg

Third car was also 1995 Nissan Silvia(SR20DET Turbocharged) at new car.
I totaled it at only 20 months.
016.jpg

Then I bought a 1997 Cobra at new.
:)

Very cool to see some American Muscle in Japan!
Thank you!:)

Imagine if there were the percentage of American cars in Japan as there are Japanese cars in the US?

Seems there are not many American cars there.

Are they more sought after there because there are not as many?
