"classic" is a misnomer and the words usage is intended for you to think of a '63 Chevy Impala

What they actually mean is cars that don't meet whatever the current emissions requirements are and are probably barely 10 years old.

In England this translates into a 2008 Ford Focus getting a daily $50 fine while a brand new $225k G-wagon is good to go...

It's a tax on the poor.

This becomes a huge issue when you realize the average national age of a car is 12.9 years old and in California it's almost 14 years old. Cars don't naturally rot away fast enough in California.

With ever increasing new car costs and EV mandates coming, the goal is to make it impossible to continue to commute in your 2014 Hyundai Elantra or KIA Soul.

Driving is a privilege, not a right. They always love to remind you.

LMAO!!! That's what we parents tell our 16 year old kids. It's not what a government should be telling a law abiding, tax paying, American citizen.

They can F OFF with that shit..... I guess living and breathing is a privilege too????

I can't wait for the zero emissions zones. I'm going to drive from out of state to spoil the fun.
It will be like when they declared Priuses could use the HOV lane so I decided my Mustang without cats identified as a hybrid. I'd blow by cops during rush hour with my bright red Mustang with loud pipes. Lol

I hope the car people organize and do this when this passes.

Yes I said “when”…it will pass and it will be in our “free” states soon enough. **** the government at this point.

Another Pipe Dream. Even if it happens the police won’t pull you over. They love classics, constant thumbs up.

You missed my point up above. A 2002 Toyota Sienna is a "classic" as far as this law is going to be concerned.

There will be no police stops. Just cameras recording license plates and sending you bills in the mail.

That's what they are doing in London and rolling out across Europe right now.

This is also why these liberal states want to roll out digital (aka GPS) license plates.

Then they can Auto Fine you for driving in an EV lane, going into toll zones or during "peak hours" and send you an annual tax bill based on the miles you drove.

It's coming.

I guess I need to get a suppressor for my .308 so I can hunt for cameras. Lol

I often wonder how many people are moving out of California on a daily basis?

A citizen of California is paying taxes for public roads and they can't even drive their own cars on them without restrictions. And not too mention registration fees for the cars as well.

What a joke.

This thought keeps crossing my mind more and more,

The internet needs to go, it's helped in many ways but is being used to control and destroy humanity.

Different states have different laws regarding what a classic vehicle is. WA has no smog or checks for any vehicle.

Used to be 25 years for classic plates here. Put them on my J10 in 2009.

Now I believe it's 30 years or older. They actually tried to make it 40. They are scratching the last taxation on the vehicle. They have an opt in feature here in WA for them to track your mileage. Opt in for now......

You guys think this is about classic cars?

El oh El.
This!!! It isn't really about classic cars. It's about forcing Green everything, one notch at a time. But even more than that, it's mostly about government control/socialism/communism. What better place to start than Commiefornia.
