Anyone know what this montrosity is? Kinda looks like a giant horsefly. I didn't think he could fly anymore but he just eventually took off, I figure he had about enough of me.

I remember hearing those all day during the summer as a kid...
they're noisy as hell, we get them around here like crazy, although we haven't had many lately.
Hate those damn things...
Common Cicada, they are everywhere. Some people eat those things live...
aka Locust. We have a few around here this year. Last year or year before there were thousands of them. Ugly but harmless. Pretty neat bugs.
It's not the Cicada I am worried about... it is the cicada killer wasp. :cryying:
Yep, we also used to call them a "jar fly".
Nope, a June bug is a large beetle.
we have one on are tree in the back, they are soooo annoying.
That was cool as heck!
