So the Cobra has been broken for a little over a year now and just now took it to the shop to have it fixed and put some other parts on it. Well I broke the differential cover after some wheel hope. Anyway, long story short the shop lifts the car today and gave me a call saying i didn't tell them "I had blown up my rear end" lol. They send me a picture of it and this is what im looking at....

So I told them to tear the whole thing out and check to see if the pumpkin is broken or not. I want to know what you all think, should I have them rip it out or not? any and all question/comments are welcome thanks

I blew the rear end in my 96 t/a (the inside was in all pieces) and in my 05 CTS-V, I pulled one expensive hole shot. Wheel hop as well and then I heard it pop. It's never fun but it's the price to pay for these cars. IRS brace is going on the cobra

This has been happening since the 2003 Cobra was released. I was scared to launch my KB Cobra on the track or the street because I had friends that has this happen prior to my purchase. However, my 1999 Corvette FRC was launched at 5000 rpms on a 150 shot off the line and she never dropped one drip of diff lube. All it had was upgraded output shafts.

In my opinion... Ford was in a hurry to get this car on the market and took the cheap route to do it.

Ford used the same IRS they had in the thunderbirds since mid 90's.

Its not very different from the IRS that came in the 99/01 models. There isnt anything "rushed" about it. SVT intended this car to TURN, not LAUNCH.

Its the drivers and additional power that end in tears. A simple $150 IRS brace would prevent this from happening, or lifting off the throttle which is free.

I bet that Vette was also running soft sidewall slicks, which helps absorb the shock of a launch and not transmit that shock into the next part like most tards do on here with DR's and wonder why their halfshafts bust off the line like twigs. Then you have guys in the know on stock IRS (maybe a diff brace), stock bushings, stock axles but slicks and NO issues whatsoever in the launch department. Hrm.......coincidence?
