I have used YT many times to fix computer issues. I swear support tech rep should use them rather than their in-house data bases. LOL.

Hello everyone,

Well, I finally downloaded the pictures I took of the Mustang show in California. I only took pictures of the classic Mustangs as I viewed them as my competition if I would have made the show.

What do you guys think? I think there was only one car there that would have given me a run for my money. I'll point it out later in the post.

This is the one I felt would have given me a run for my money. It's a very nice 69 sports roof with a coyote swap and a nice interior. Guy said it was a Corvette color, but it looks very similar to my color. He also removed the shock towers and painted the engine bay body color, but he went flat on the engine bay.

This was my favorite classic Mustang at the show.

I didn't realize the sun faded this picture LOL.

He put a 2016 Mustang console in the car. Looks pretty cool.

IMO your car is miles ahead of that car Glenn.
I think my favorite would have to be the 65/66 GT350 with the supercharger. I bet that car is a blast to drive.
I thought the car you were mentioning before I got to the end and saw the 69, was the 65/66 coupe with the JBA Speed shop sign in front of it.
That car looks to be real clean judging from the engine bay.

That was a vendor's car. They can't compete. But even if it could Glenn's is a lot cleaner.

Hey Chris! Nice to see you in my build thread sir. Thank you for your feedback. There were some nice cars there. I just felt that 69 was the nicest. The JBA car was clean, but the engine bay looked factory to me which is why I picked the 69 over it.

However, as Bob mentioned (@01yellercobra) it was a vendor car and would not have gone against me.

I really did like the GT350 car with supercharger. But, again, the engine bay was lacking compared to mine in my opinion.

I'm trying to get my car done so I can take it next year and see how it fares. Although I am putting a lot of work into it the car is not perfect. The trunk is not finished and some of the jams need some attention. So, there are things people/judges can nit pick. That's fine. I'm not looking to build a show car/trailer queen just something that others will enjoy looking at and I can be proud of.

I agree with you both. Glenn’s Mustang is in its own league. Those classic Mustangs were all nice, but they just don’t compare. That’s my honest opinion.

Thank you Bob! Really appreciate you saying that. It's nice to hear other's point of view. I know how I feel about my car, but to read posts like yours and @Goocher0310th really makes me feel good.

As I have said before I like to read peoples comments and have discussion about the build. I really do enjoy that aspect of having a build thread.

So, thank you guys!

Okay,

Today I worked on my taillight panel. Had to get some areas feathered out, some body filler in others and get rid of my 347 emblem outline.

This area had high build up. It looks like they sprayed it with the filler neck in place.

Here you can see the outline of the 347 emblem.

Here you can see the area around the filler neck and the 347 emblem has been feathered out.

Here is the bad spot. It's on the taillight panel near the trunk latch. It won't be seen unless the trunk is open, but I wanted it fixed.

Body filler applied.

Okay, body filler sanded and shaped.

Next it was time to get everything masked off and start priming.

Got everything masked up. Had to leave some areas on the trunk edge exposed as I want them painted and smoothed out.

I already showed my process on the sides, so just going to the end result.

Here you can see there is still a little outline showing. That's no big deal as the filler neck will cover/hide it.

Here the 347 emblem outline is completely gone.

I got the taillight panel done pretty early. So, it was time to move on to the sanding.

I worked on my trunk and back half of my QTR panels.

I used my orbital sander. I normally sand wet, but since I'm repainting the whole car I need to work smarter, not harder LOL. So, I started sanding dry and then finished it wet.
20211023_144817.jpg

I sanded it dry with 400 grit. Then I sanded it dry with 600 grit. You may notice the trunk lip is not sanded. Since I painted the taillight panel I didn't want to touch that area or get dust in it.

Here is the back half of the passenger QTR panel. After I sanded everything with dry. I then wet sanded the entire area with 600 grit wet.
20211023_171040.jpg

Here is the back half of the driver's QTR panel. After the whole car is done in this 400/600 grit process I will go over the whole car with 800 grit to give it a final sanding and prepare the car for paint.

You guys may notice there is some burn through in areas (exposed primer). It's no big deal since I'm painting the whole car. It is very smooth and even and the paint will cover it.

Okay,

As mentioned it was more sanding today LOL.

I got my doors, front part of the QTR panels and my C pillars sanded today. I need to sand the A pillars, roof and back of the car then go over the entire car with 800 grit. Then it will be time to paint.

20211024_113910.jpg

Getting close. Next weekend I will probably finish the sanding. Then I'll unmask the car and clean the car and garage floor really well. Then I'll mask the car for painting the following weekend. I'll probably lay down some plastic on the floor to give me a cleaner painting environment.
