I cant decide between; Hoosier, MT ET Streets, or MT ET Drags...

Can anyone contribute some insight to the greater good? These are going on my Bogart's which will be driven at the track. However, someone did mention that the DOT approved would be be nice to keep it street legal in a sense if i were to drive to the track or corner store. Or does it really matter? Thanks in advanced!

I have street tires for the street obviously. Is there a noticeable difference between the street legal and non? I mean if im going to yield the same times with both tires then i might as well go with the street legal ones. If there is a noticeable difference between the two and the non street legal hooks better.. then i will chose those...

What street tires do you have? If you're taking F1's, they are a complete joke.

A street tire to me is either a Nitto drag radial, a Mickey Thompson ET street or
ET street radial, Hoosier DR, etc.

No way. I'm on mt et street radials. This car is not my daily. Lol

:D Ok cool...then we're on the same page.
I run the 17" MT ET DR's also as my daily driver tire.

I would definitely run an ET Drag if you're going to mount them
on some Bogarts.

The best tires for the track are the ET Drags or the Hoosier full slicks. But, if you're running 16" rims to fit the IRS without modification, you're really limited to the 28" Hoosiers:

Rear Tire Slick Options - 16" Rims:
Hoosier slick............28.0/10.0-16
Hoosier QTP............26 X 9.50-16 LT
............................28 X 11.50-16 LT
MT ET Drags...........None
MT ET Streets.........26X10.50-16LT
............................26X11.50-16LT
............................28X11.50-16LT
M & H Racemaster....26 x 12-16

Supposing that i did get coilovers and go with a 28" slick... Does anyone know the widest I can run them? Will i need to grind down the IRS bolt? The bogarts are a 16x10" rim. Thanks guys.

I had 13.5 X 28 et streets., got a best short time of 1.48 (95 gt,., not cobra).,., but I am sure et drags would have equaled or bettered that time a by a smidgeon :)

I've always run ET Streets, but I've seen a lot of local guys have good luck with the ET Drags. I just like the ET Streets because I can mount them at my house and drive to the track with them, make a few passes and drive home. They've worked pretty well for me thus far, bone stock IRS and suspension and the car 60's in the 1.5-1.6 consistantly.

Full slicks, if you can trailer the car or put them on at the track, would be superior than any other option here. And, as stated above, when you go to the track, The Hoosier full slicks are generally the tire of choice for the heavy hitters. As far as DOT slicks, the Hoosier Quick Time Pro's are actually very good tires and some folks feel they're nearly equivalent to a full slick.

keep in mind you dont want to mix bias ply and radial tires. i see a lot of guys running bias ply slicks and radial street tires.

Depending on your power level, you can get away with it, but it tends to get a little squirrely. I've done 10 or so runs with the mismatch and finally switched to a bias ply skinny.

I've had good luck with my MT ET Street (bias ply) 26x11.5x15.
I mount them at home, drive to the track, run 10s, put my convertible top down and drive home.
Who could ask for more??
