Good morning. Sad truck post to say the lease. I leased a 2017 F150 lariat brand new approximately 16 months ago. Truck had issues from the get go:
    -creaking, rattling vista roof
    -oil leak
    -doors not opening or latching
    -failed console door
    -failed heated mirrors
-rattles in the doors, dashboard and somewhere I could never pin down

after 16k Ford Motor bought the truck back, for that I’m grateful for the way they handled the process. Hats off to them, as a result, if felt compelled to lease another F150 as I figured it was a fluke. I leases a gorgeous 2018 White F150 Limited, 69k sticker I might add. Truck was great for about 3k miles. I’ve already had the drivers door freeze up, and a poor alignment. the dealer corrected the drivers door but can seem to get the truck aligned. So last night, I was 40 miles away from home with my oldest daughter and when get get in the truck. The passenger door was so locked up, it had to opened from the inside. She got in, the the door would not latch. I tried everything to get this door to close, the lock pin inside was so locked up I thought it was going to break my hand. So we drove with her holding the door. It finally decided to latch about 20 minutes into the drive. So now my confidence is again gone with Ford and this truck. Now @ 3k the list of issues are
-doors not functioning, opening and closing
    -bad alignment
-drivers door is misaligned, wind noise on the freeway and moundings not aligned
-clunking rear end at lower speeds
-tail gate is completely misaligned major differences in the gaps from left to right

am I cursed here? Have others had this many issues? I have modified 2013 Shelby putting down 650 Rwhp with no issues at 14k on the clock and drive it hard!!!

Personally, I want this truck out of my life as well. Zero confidence in the build quality of this truck!!!

Thansk for reading my rant!!! -Tom

Man, I feel like it has to be bad luck. The frozen door latch is a known problem and Ford issued the recall/TSB (can't remember which). The vista roof was notorious for problems as well.

The other issues are a bit odd and out of the norm.

I've been lucky with my '15 on the door latch.

I just traded my 14 lariat in with 135,000 miles never had 1 problem all I ever did was brakes and oil changes, so far my 18 lariat hasn’t had any problems but alignment is off a little.

Sorry to hear OP. I have a 15 I bought used last fall and love it. One thing I did before winter after researching F150 forums. Was spray quite a bit of WD-40 in the latches on my truck. Knock on wood I haven’t had an issue with the latches on it.

I think a lot of it could be they aren’t sealed right the latches as well as the door drains can clog up from what I’ve read. Perhaps try another buy back if they can’t fix this? Or open a case with ford see if you can speak to the service manager or GM? Maybe even the local Ford rep?

    @13COBRA any ideas?

I’m really hoping it can get corrected or I can, preferably, get out.

Sad part is both trucks are just gorgeous inside and out. I loved my 2017, but hated being at the dealer every month with an issue.

Praying I’m not going down the same road with this one!

@Deceptive didn’t you have issues with a vista roof if I recall?

As far as the new one is concerned...a half competent dealer can do an alignment on the vehicle, and realign the driver's door. More than likely the wind noise caused by the molding is in direct relation to the door being slightly out of factory specs. Both of those should be a 2 hour fix.

The tailgate being misaligned is strange, but can be fixed as well.

The clunking in the rear end.... does the truck have a 3.55 rear end? I've noticed trucks with the EcoBoost and the 3.55s do develop some sort of clunk. I've always experienced it going up hill and letting off of the gas. It's almost like it goes from a pulling gear to overdrive and skips all the gears in-between, causing the clunk.

The doors 'locking' up is a TSB, and I imagine with the rather cold temperatures the last few weeks, that the TSB would fix it no problem.

Going to get the ford rep involved and take the truck in first thing Monday. Also will spray the hell out of the latches with WD 40. Thanks

The vista is great on this one, not a sound!

Completely agree with you on the door alignment and overall alignment.

Tailgate is strange and par with my luck.

Has the 3.55 with the 3.5 eco. Thanks for the confirmation I’m not crazy

I understand it’s a TSB but what I find strange is #1, the plant did not catch the issue before it left and #2 the dealer did not catch it when it already went in for the issue. Going to ask that all doors be checked and verified on my next visit.

A TSB is different than a recall. A recall means that EVERY vehicle that fits the bill gets checked out and/or fixed. A TSB is when a line of vehicles have a somewhat common issue, and when it comes in for that issue, Ford already has a TSB, technical service bulletin, out that can help in the repair.

Unless it was locking up at time of delivery, the dealership would have had 0 reason to look at it.

The door latch problem, as 13 alluded to, is temperature dependent. Moisture finds its way to the latch and freezes it shut or open.

Well that makes sense then. What fascinates me is Ford has not perfected door latches on my last two trucks. I Figured functional doors would be a given after building cars and trucks all these years

They obviously did not execute a solid DFMEA or PFMEA. Design/process failure mode and effects analysis.

    Try some WD40.

Someone posted that video on F150 forums and I tried it. Granted I didn’t remove my rubber plugs at the bottom of the door. But knock on wood my truck has been good.

That said Ford did release a newer open campaign I believe in November of 2018 for the door latches. @13COBRA correct me on that if I’m wrong.

Sorry to hear about your luck. I have a 2013, 2016, 2018 and everyone of them has been fantastic. No I think I would criticize it he occasional clicking noise from the glass roof and the Bang&Olufsen stereo is way under powered.
Besides that I love it. I currently have 40,000 miles on it and have Walley replaced oil and brakes. I beat this thing like a red headed step child. No mercy. Lol

Aside from the door latch freezing up on the driver's side only, ( TSB ), my 17 Scab has been trouble free, after 18 months of ownership..

I feel your pain with my 2015. I had terrible alignment which was only fixable after the dealer installed cams in the lower control arms. That cost me a total of $490 including the alignment . My latches were fixed understand recall but I'm down south so freezing won't be an issue .Next is that I'm currently waiting for my oil pan to come in as mine is leaking . I sold a Tacoma with 200k trouble free miles for this truck and I now regret it.

My 18 is awesome. That transmission can be a tad clunky at times though when letting off the gas when it’s shifting.

We get random years of Mack trucks that don’t turn for shit, I’ve mever understood it. They’ll be fine for years then suddenly we get a different design that doesn’t turn for shit (and we have the shop make sure everything’s adjusted all the way out).
