Yeah a lot of contradicting info in that video. It was written off? 2k miles? Not very clear besides one cracked crank.
The whole situation is a mess. It looks like, as @black99lightnin said, that the block and crank are actually from an AMG GT Black engine, not a C63 engine. That could explain the engine failure caused by the mismatched lower bearing cradle. The cradle probably is from a C63 cross-plane crank engine and that's why it doesn't have the steel bearing reinforcements that the block has. As for the cracked crank, that's a manufacturing defect and if the engine had been in use longer it might have failed, hopefully under warranty.

^ blocks and rods are the same across the 4.0 lineup. m176/m177 single and twin scroll, and m178 single and twin scroll(Black Series).

Interesting - so what's with the steel reinforcing on the block side of the main bearings? I'd think that if they need it on the top, it'd be on the lower cradle as well.
