Why is that?

If I remember right, the auto s197 mustangs came with 3.15’s and used the same rear end as the f150.

The 10r80 starts to slip around 750-800hp in 7th (1:1).

As dusten mentioned there are 10r upgrades starting to come available now.

Ah, I gotcha. So not a factory option but one could buy the gears and re gear the truck themselves.

That’d be the way IMO.

They came factory equipped aparently. I found an article listing it. Ive been on the f150 forums for years and have never heard of the ratio until now. I cant even find anyone who carries it. It is a 2.7 only ratio.

It was the standard gear on mine IIRC, but I went locking 3.55.

Ive looked at a ton of the basic trucks and those a lot of times have the taller gears and Ive never seen a 3.15 equipped truck. Ive seen plenty of 3.31 gears and 3.55s was the most common. Ive even seen the most elusive beast ever of them all the 3.73 equipped truck. The 2.7 with 3.55s is really the best overall setup for the engine.
