There aren't 330 million ppl working and 15% make over $130k and 24% of the population is under 18 yrs and isn't working. There are also a few million ppl in jail.

Country is worth $270 trillion. If the government is floating numbers like $2k a month for qualified ppl then they can afford 10x that easily. Probably just a democratic push for votes.

Do you mean for each of the estimated 330 million people? If so, that would only be 19.8 trillion dollars

Political ploy and nothing more. It will be DOA if it ever reaches the Senate. If the Senate is foolish enough to pass bbn it, Trump will have to Veto it.

I dont doubt there may be 1 more Stilus bill before this is all said and done, but this is foolishness.

"Under the Emergency Money for the People Act, US citizens who are 16 or older — and make less than $130,000 a year — would receive cash payments from the federal government for at least six months and until unemployment falls to pre-pandemic levels."
I would assume that a 16 year old that was a dependent on their parents taxes don't qualify, but it doesn't specify that.

I say the Right should step out of the way and let the Left push through all their BS Socialist Agenda. That way when people are crying about the massive debt the Republicans, if they can find their balls, can say we didn't want financial woes on us and the Dems are fiscally irresponsible and will destroy this country if left to their agenda.

Maybe not for months but I can see a $2k check going out. Leaving out those that make over $99k leaves out HALF the American population households! $1200 isn't enough especially if this goes on through out the summer.

Trump aint gonna Veto that if it gets to him. That would be political suicide and with elections around the corner.

The problem is printing money does not help anyone. Ask German residents of the 1930’s.

Thats a very valid point. But one thing Germany did not have was that the world is all based off the US dollar. If it fails so does everyones else money.

Maybe 5 wives Mormon?

Lol maybe hes smarter than we think.

No balls to be found. Repubs had countless opportunities to do what you say above in the last ~12-13 years.

Dems will have their chance in 4 years (possibly sooner with this crap now) ... pendulum is going to swing HARD left... gonna be a live shit-show that's for sure.

Not sure where you got the $270T from, but looking at the FY19 Financial Report of the US Government, it appears that we are $23T in the red. The country does not have enough liquid money on an annual basis, which is why the deficit increases most every year.

https://www.fiscal.treasury.gov/fil.../financial-report/2019/FR-02272020(Final).pdf

Maybe the $270T is total net worth of the U.S. and everything in it?

I certainly don't know much about this topic. I searched around and looked at what I could find since your response. If we had that kind of money, we wouldn't be in debt. Right?

Everyone under.

@GNBRETT I can see another stimulus even $2k per person, but $2k PER MONTH per person until the "economy recovers" is a recipe for disaster and hyper inflation.

It's 600 bucks ON TOP of your unemployment benefits.
I, personally think that's a shit ton of money to be throwing around, but I don't make the gubberment rules. lol Inflation, here we come. You can already see it out there.

Once my 600 clears, I'm going to be taking in a "G" a week. The 600 dollars a week piggybacking my full time unemployment benefits. Come tax time in 2021,......I'm gonna get it hard in the fudge tunnel. LOL

My wife and I make $181k between us, and with 2 kids we still got the full $3400. We are both still full time employed, working from home.

It takes into consideration single vs married incomes, plus #of kids.

Your AGI cant be 181k or you would have been partially phased out of the 2,400 portion.

Either way the new proposal is a single person with an AGI (Not salary) of 130k or couple with an AGI of under 260k would get the 2k per person (4k for married filing jointly) plus an additional 500 per kid.

Ah, my wife changed jobs in Jan. Her new job pays a lot more. Her salary last year was lower. I bet that is why. I was thinking of current income, not last years.

Well than the government messed up.

Possible, but I would bet that your thinking of your gross salary and not everything that goes on your return. I have had 6 clients so far think the same thing and call me to check. All of them were over when looking at their salary, but forgot that AGI is less health insurance paid through their employer, 401k, dependent care FSA, health FSA, net capital losses, losses on real estate, etc etc.

Oops, you are correct. :)

Happy to bank that check either way!

You realize that would mean you would have to have 16 children or more and married to get that much.

10 kids only gets your 5,000.

Remember some people do not understand their anatomy consists of a uterus rather than a clown car.

Anyway, if the government is giving away money in such a fashion, back the truck up to the precious metal store.
