Stock vs stock an LS2 vette will be a drivers race against a stock 5.0.
I could see this maybe from a dig but not from a roll. The Vette simply has a better power to weight ratio...

I think they have a slightly better power to weight ratio. LS2's (if I remember correctly) typically dyno around 345rwhp compared to about 370rwhp for Mustangs. So 3250/345 =9.42. 3600/370= 9.73.

From Mag. tests I've seen, 05-07 Vette typically trap 112-113MPH and 2011 Mustangs trap 110-112mph.

Honestly, i had an 06 M6 LS2. Stock, I ran 12.4 @114. I can see a 5.0 running neck n neck stock. Once I added cai, headers, tune, and fast 102, I ran 12.0 @118. I can see a bolt on 5.0 doing the same times. Both cars are very simular.

Now, most people fail to realize the Grand Sports are heavier than the narrow body. I have an 08 LS3 A6. With headers, and tune (no cai, or therms) i run consistant 11.6s @120 on stock run flats. The A6 is a monster drag racing. My tuner has the same bolt-ons as I, but has a small cam, raised compression, cai and tune. he runs 10.8s @132!! This is on stock converter. he just purchased a 3200 converter and is installing it next week. he should run 10.5s. Simple matching bolt-ons and the LS3 can be nasty. If I just installed a cam and tires, I know I would be looking at 11.3s. However, I have witnessed several stall, tune, cai, xpipe, 5.0s run 11.5s-11.8s! so, I think it depends on each car's set up. No matter how you look at it, the 5.0 is not to be played with and I don't take them lightly, nor do I think I would easily walk one. Anyone with that thinking will be in for a rude awakening.

Please tell me which 11/12 5.0 is 3500lbs and I'll go get one right now lol because I know for a fact they aren't that low. More like 3700 is what 2011 5.0 weighs.

My 2013 300A M6 GT weighs in at 3510lbs with half a tank of gas(obviously without me in it). I have weighed it 3 different times with the same result.

I can tell you that my LS2 stock was trapping 114. And my brothers 2011 5.0 with the frpp tune traps 114. Also my LS2 with intake, full exhaust, tune, pulley trapped 119. And my vette with the bolt ons weighed in at 3120 pounds. (there is alot of weight taken out when you change the exhaust.) It's going to come down to the driver. My borther should not beat an LS3 vette they trap like 115-116 but he walked on my bosses son's 2010 LS3 because he has no idea how to drive he was paddle shifting an automatic at 5500 rpm. So anything can happen on the street.

My GS went 12.2's in the heat. The LS3 Vettes are quicker than the Coyotes stock.

I own both and have no dog in this fight. The Vette is quicker.

9 out 10 vette drivers can't drive. It's the ones that know how to use the car that are the problem.

Everyone should on this site know that the ls3's are quicker and it will take a good modified 5.0 to beat one .... BUT this thread is about the LS2 and a bolt on 5.0 can and will beat a bolt on LS2 vette!!!

Depends on what you mean by "bolt on". A stock LS2 should pull a stock Mustang. If it doesn't the owner is a retard.

I went to the track last thursday with my 11 LS3 GS manual, bone stock. Ran 12.6@114 over and over and over on the stock tires. Heak soak or cooled off, it was the same. The car is consistant atleast. Was running 90mph stock in the 1/8th.

Was it running on 7 cylinders?

Having had a bolt-on LS2 C6 and now a slightly modified 5.0 (cai, full exhaust, tune), I will say it's pretty even (driver dependent) if the mods are similar; Vette gets the slight edge on the highway IMO. I ran my LS2 quite a bit at the track but can't compare to my 5.0 as I just don't have time right now to race so I can only go off of SOTP feel and of course, not always accurate.

That is usually where I start to pull them with my STOCK 5.0 M6... And the car I was playing around with was an Auto car so you can take the "driver mod" out of the equation... trust me the first time I approached by a Vette I thought " I'm going to get beat but what the hell"...needless to say everything went better than expected..

Was it an A4? All I can say is I've owned both and all else being equal (mine was an mn6), I feel like the LS2 C6 would have the slight advantage. An 05 C6 A4, probably would not though, stock or slightly modded. I've driven those as well, stock only, and they are a bit of dog stock (relatively speaking). Of course full bolt-on A4, a good converter, is going to be a beast. Never driven the A6 model.

Not sure what it was to be honest...all I know was I was out a car and pulling by the top of 4th.... I did try out a LS3 08...and I put it on him pretty bad but he couldnt drive that damn thing...and it was an Auto...lol.. he kept saying that he wasnt sure how to use the paddle thingy's real good yet... :-D... and I kept telling him to put it in "R" for race..lol..to bad cause I really wanted to see where I was with a newer LS3 car... I have owned a couple of F-Body's so I know what they are capable of with a gear, stall , and a tune...

Na, its just really hard to launch. I couldnt break out of the 2.1 60" range. Thats what the issue was. The car on DRs should break 11's though easy. But I didnt have the driver mod installed that day. Atleast I was consistent.
