Hey guys i'm new here. Im wondering what approach I should take for 4v cams in my Cobra. I've picked up some comp beehive springs and retainers. But I dont feel like spending the 1200 for the cams, stage 2 or stage 3? Im naturally aspirated and what do you believe would be the best approach and brand to go with? This is a daily driver but not highway cruiser. I want around maybe 50rwhp dyno tune gain when done? Thanks

Also I have 2001 cobra heads bare with one timing chaina and cam guards only on one of them used. What do you think I could get out of this money wise? Thanks again!

I got the beehives in deal but price isnt a huge factor, I just hear about custom grinds being cheaper then 1200 comp cams. just need some advice thanks lol

Your pretty much stuck paying $1200 or more for new cams. If you can find a used set, you can save money. On a bolt on car, cams in the [email protected] range work good. Comp 106060 and 106100, are lower lift and you can use your stock springs. I have been seeing a lot of comp springs breaking lately. I wouldn't trust them. Combined with long tubes and a ported intake you may see a 50rwhp gain.

A 50rwhp gain is easy with cams/long tubes & psri/fr500 intake.
Hell, I gained 42rwhp with cams alone. And that was on top of 98' cobra cams. If I lay that graph over top of my stock Mach cams I would have gained 60.
360-370 is safe for stock internals. I'm gonna try and push 400rwhp by next summer, With livernois springs, and gt supercar followers.

Bmeagher how did you gain the 42hp? Are you saying with 98 Cobra cams? Im very interested to say the least! Yes Im looking for 50rwhp. Paired with the LT's. Do I truely need the intake? Yes this is a bolt on car. I have the boring basic bolt ons now! Thank you

With 98 cobra intake cams, psri and longtubes I put down 323, then with 106100's I put down 365. Then I swapped the psri to a fr500 intake I layed down 378. She was still climbing at 6800rpms. I plan on revving it to 7200-7500 by next spring... And in the ball park of 400rwhp

Did you leave the heads alone? Also do you think the FR500 was worth the extra money compared to the previous intake?

Stock heads, never been unbolted from the motor yet. The idea behind the fr500 was for future upgrades, if I didnt plan on doing any further upgrades I would have just kept the stock psri.

Does it have to be just the 98 intake or is it 96-98 Intake in general? I have been doing research on this but not sure since everyone says just "98" intake cams.
