Looks like that is their copy and paste response...."you didn't clean the intake" What a load of bullshit! Up until now, I have heard nothing but good stories about reman Cobra engines. Look at Sendak and all the dyno pulls and drag racing that engine has seen and Rick hasn't had problems with it.

Ford is going to send out another motor to the shop and cover all the labor.

Only one problem... there is no ETA on when the new motor will arrive at the shop due to ford not having the parts needed to build another engine. :bash:

I didn't have to speak with anyone, the shop where i'm having the engine installed at spoke to the Ford Powertrain Call Center and got it taken care of for me. :rolling:

Anyone know ehere to get one of these remans currently? Im finding nothing in stock anywhere

Have you called Tousley? They can order one for you. Around 6200.00 Then you get 2000.00 back when you return the core. The core must be a terminator core.

Wow one for the good guys...that's good to hear. However, maybe the old remans were solid but not so sure bout these recent ones...

I had my car with a reman engine on a dyno over the weekend for a retune and blew a head gasket. I'm running a 2.9 Whipple at 18-19 psi with 18 timing. As of yet I'm not sure what caused it as the car did not go lean at all.

A little background on my motor, build date is late 2008 and it currently sits at 25,000 miles. It has had an Eaton with stock pulley on it all its life except for the last 200 or so miles at which point it got the 2.9 Whipple, cai, full exhaust with long tubes and all supporting mods.

Tear down will start in a month or two and I will hopefully find out what went wrong then.

So I'm in the middle of my warranty process on my motor, it started when I got the motor, it had a cut of ring on the oil cooler from whoever installed it, them after I got everything bolted into place I went to put the motor mounts on, and 2 out of the three bosses had rusted out/missing threads, which was repaired by a machine shop by installing helicoils, that was paid for by the dealership I bought the motor from. Then it started making a slight knocking noise at deceleration from 2k rpm, this was at 900 miles before any significant boost was put through it. I took it to the dealership and explained my situation, the tech couldn't hear the noise, so I had a chat with the service manager and showed him the noise, he heard what I was talking about and annotated it and advised me to drive it and see how it acts.. Well it has ran great the past few months and 5k miles, but recently it started using oil and making a dry knock sound at start up, so I talked to the warranty writer for the area and she said to take it in, so that's going to happen soon. Anyway, I just saw some shady stuff with this motor, and everyone else seems to be having good luck with theirs.

sorry to hear that man! It seems you got a bad one out the bunch. I wish you all the luck you can get.
I'm running a reman now (build date october 2013) have about 400 miles on it now and engine wise its still running smooth. I havent really pushed it that hard yet. I hope it lasts. Running a ported eaton with a 2.76 pulley. I just burned up an eagle electric alternator and have a new one on the way now.

Mine was built in Nov. of 13, and installed in Dec, and it runs beautifully, just these little demons, and thanks guys, judging by all the warranty horrors I hear, I'll need it. Also, these motors seem to have the latest casting (05+) of the 4.6 4v head.
