I've been reading about Ford's announcement of the upcoming 2019 GT500 release making 700"+" hp which has had me scratching my head for some time. The only V8 engine platform Ford currently has is the 5 liter Coyote and the 5.2 Voodoo which the rumor are it will be a 5.2 with a cross plane...
I'm curious if John Mihovetz is still campaigning the 4.6 mod motor or if he's moved onto the Coyote. If he is, that would be very telling. On his web site I still see 4.6 and 5.4 stuff but didn't see any Coyote. Can anyone shed light on this?
I was reading Ford will be discontinuing the coyote and perhaps the voodoo engine in favor of a new 4.8 V8. This will very likely be a linerless block and the same old bore centers which is not great news for us hot rodders. If the GT500 gets this engine I bet dollars-to-doughnuts it will be...
My friend has a 2009 F-150 with a 5.4
He needs to change his plugs but the dealer is warning him removing them can be problematic saying they weld themselves into the head and strip or break when removed.
Is this something he should be concerned with? The early DOHC heads only came with 4...
What your looking at is a 4.6 Billet crankshaft made by Pankl (who makes formula 1 cranks) for the Roush Yates racing engine.
Its been lightened, has full filleted radii on the journals, knife edges throws. It's out of a rented race engine with 1200 miles on it.
Here is a pic of the chamfered...
It was getting to the point this web site was becoming "unusable" with the screen constantly locking-up and freezing the browser. The only way to fix it was to use the task manager and cancel the browser and losing everything. The exact same thing was happening on my computer at work so I know...
I ran across the low oil level sensor used on Fox body cars that may save your bacon.
I noticed a threaded bung on the side of my Canton oil pan which had me scratching my head thinking it was a provision for an oil temp sensor but discovered the real reason for it. This could be a very...
I got side tracked from working on my chassis but it was in a good way and thought some of you might enjoy seeing the progress on my new oil pan.
What I’m basically doing here is copying the Canton Road Race pan in aluminum with a few improvements. The major benefit is the cooling effect the...
Just like the title states.
I would imagine the GT350 goes from the showroom floor straight to the track with little or no modification. Trying to factor out the driver how does the GT350 fair against other Mustangs as well as other makes of vehicles? I've heard nothing but praise for the...
When installing a MM solid steering shaft I noticed it lacked the plastic steeve that factory rag joint shaft employs and thought I would share.
When installing the MM shaft it was loose as a goose not engaging the shaft bearing in the firewall. While probably not an absolute necessity I...

It's getting close to ordering a new headliner for my Cobra which I believe is Ford p/n: 4R3Z6351916AAC charcoal gray
This part is discontinued buy Ford but this web site list the OE headliner for $400 but something tells me it's not available thru them but I will call to confirm whether it's...
I removed this factory ID tag when I stripped my car down and I would like to put it back in the correct location. If I remember correctly it was stapled to the lower rad support but I don't know for sure. Thanks
Something got me thinking, most people who have read my post outlining the chassis reinforcements done to my Terminator while I'm sure most find it interesting are saying to themselves "this is all fine and dandy but how is any of this of benefit to me? Someone bringing up the topic for a 500...
I was talking to Mr. Schaider the other day and he pointed out a billet oil filter with a reusable 20 micron stainless steel mesh filter element that looks very attractive as it will allow you to inspect what the filter is catching every time you change the oil even better then cutting open a...
I just got my Cobra back from the body shop and thought I would share what I have been up to which is pretty radical to say the least. It was suppose to be a weekend worth of welding to reinforce the shock towers for coilovers but it morphed into a full blown chassis transformation which require...
Perhaps someone can help me out over here. MM&FF magazine is fairly well known for leaving out important details on some of their articles especially when it come to the equipment that happens to be sourced from their advertisers who want to sell said equipment (one that stands out is Snows...
Like the title says
I was working on a post and the site freezes on me and I lost all the composition :cuss:
This is not the first time and it happening with increased frequency even on other sites. Even typing this post my keyboard inputs get interrupted by the constant streaming of...
I've made a lot of observations regarding the cooling system in our engine and thought it would be interesting to start a "top down" comprehensive cooling system thread where we can outline aspects of our engine that could see improvement ridding the engine of excess heat. More times than not...
After installing my IRS I was evaluating how I was going to set-up my diff oil cooler. The Tilton pump was going where the evap canister was but the HE itself presented some challenges as there was not much room for one behind the fuel tank where there is 0 airflow. Looking at the catback...
I noted in this months edition of MM&FF the S550 IRS Ford chose to use a cast iron diff housing in the 8.8. I wonder what the motivation for that is. "Heat" and "weight" can't be one of them. The cover looks pretty beefy, is still cast aluminum and has nice widely spaces mounting stanchions. Not...
Just completed another step in my build which was rather unexpected but it's something most people never considered (including me) and actually makes a lot of sense from some perspectives and not much from others (mainly the effort required but as you probably already know I'm pretty tenacious)...
There are rumors Ford will equip the GT350 with a Tremec TR-7009 DCT 7 speed transmission. It's got triple overdrive the thing is a beast! It weighs close to 200 lbs.

From my perspective I think adding another gear is a bit over the top I can't...
One would think finding the right slip yoke for a T56 Magnum would be easier then falling off a mossey wet log after drinking a 6 pack while wearing high heels you would be mistaken. Well at least up til now.
I finally found a yoke that would compliment the Magnum from a company called Sonnax...
