I got this a while back from Don LaSota. I never used it. I think it came with a remote tune, but it has been so long that I am not sure that Don would still honor it, but it is worth a try. $275 shipped in the Continental US.
I have what I think is a set of the 1x 90mm and 3x 100mm idler pulleys and they are definitely set up wrong. Probably been like this for years, but someone just pointed it out to me.
Anyways, the belt is wrapped over (on the right side) of the upper idler pulley where it should be...
Lol - I think I bought that car - first thing I did was pull the silver wrap off of the top. Actually thinking about selling it which brought me to this site after a few years of absence...
I just got the bad news from Whipple - it is beyond reasonable repair. $350 more for inspection and shipping. Hopefully the judge will see things my way. I suppose I will sue for the price of a new Whipple + attempted repair and see what they want to do with depreciation.
Eh - I just decided to give the whole thing to Whipple and let them do it. Since I am going to be re-selling this to someone (probably on these boards), I want to make sure it is perfect.
Yea - I just took off the snout and front cover. Full of crap inside. Not only that, but the blaster did not tape off any of the machined edges - e.g. the plenum to SC edges, etc.
I went back to have a word with him and he gave me my $$ back for the job. I was going to negotiate to see about...
It all started with just changing the injectors. By the point that I had my Whipple off, I figured I would remove the orange color and go back to black. After trying with several paint removers, this stuff wasn't coming off. Apparently, it was powder coated. I brought it to my powder coater...
Most of what I see has 2 ports, though, an "in" and "out" for routing back to the intake. Do I just plug the other side? Or use something more application specific?
Now that I understand this better, I see that the PCV delete was already done. I wanted to move from breather (which is what I have now) to catch can. I am just not sure how it gets plumbed. I created a post to clarify that: https://www.svtperformance.com/forums/threads/catch-can-clarity.1133762/
yep. I have been looking at the VHT products. I may just take Whipple and Valve covers to a wrinkle black. The previous owner did everything orange, which was just a bit too much for my tastes.
Long story short, I was thinking about powder coating my 2.3 Whipple. I called Whipple to ask them for recommendations as far as disassembly and reassembly of the unit. Bottom line is that the entire unit should be broken down as the seals inside would not go well with the heat involved in PC...
After pulling my Inter Cooler apart, I see the need for a catch can setup (I think). Currently, the car is set up with breathers on both valve covers. I have seen vids that talk about using a catch can with the PCV stock but I am having a hard time understanding where I am running lines for a...
So are you soaking it in the brake cleaner from the aerosol cans just sprayed into a bucket or did you get a liquid version? Or soak in something else like acetone?
I finally got this sucker off (it'll be much easier next time) and I thought it looked pretty dirty. Are these pics an indication of anything? Is there anything special I should do before re-assembly? I think I am going to powdercoat the Whipple before I put it back on anyways.
