Car shopping for my wife since a deer totaled out her volvo xc90, we went to the local ford dealer to look at a used nautilis and aviator, and im just not going to flipping pay $70k plus 6% interest for one of those turds. As we were leaving, I told the dealer to humor me and let me drive a mach-e. To be honest, i was genuinely surprised at how nice the car was. I know that almost every mustang fan absolutely HATES it, purely because its called a "mustang" but if you can get past that, then its actually a descent car. ford is now offering 0% financing which makes it an attractive buy. I have heard horror stories on tesla owners saying that they cannot go to a dealer to get maintenance, they have to book an online appointment and want 8 flippin weeks for someone to come out there and look at the car. Its nice that any ford can work on the car if needed.
Also, the only driving my wife and I do is to and from my kids daycare every day. which is roughly 17-20 miles each direction. so not having a gas bill, vs putting premium in my wifes xc90.
but here is where I am a little irritated. We test drove the GT variant over the weekend, then decided to come back to the dealer today to make an offer. Which all but lasted maybe 8 minutes total. These goddamn dealers are so stuck on pandemic profits, that they are unwilling to budge on anything. They have 3 GT's and I decided to make an offer on the GT Performance one. it is listed for 54K. I told them I would be willing to pay $50k out the door. CarEdge.com shows the car has been on the lot 242 days. so its clearly not selling. The salesmen laghed at me and said he would ask his boss. I told him, dont come back with $400 off or some shit, I will only pay $50k and thats it. Take it or leave it, and enjoy you rmusem piece.
so then the manger walks in. shows me some stupid paper how they paid $70k for it and discounted it to $54k.
Im like dude... its still NOT SELLING. $50k is a reasonable offer. He then tried to tell me that hes already discounting it $18k for me. and i was like ummm no. Ford told you lower the price and offer 0%. Now that all mach-e's across the entire nation are 0%....AND only 11 GT's have sold in the last 45 days in the entire US. Then they tried to tell me they sold 2 this week. I laught my ass off and said thats a lie. Do you honestly expect me to believe that this ford dealership, in one of the most remote parts of washington state, is responsible for 25% of the US sales. hahahaha. the only way out to this dealer is a 2 hour drive from seattle on a 1 lane highway. After that dealer, the road is desolate for the next 3 hours of driving with no towns. so no...thats a lie.
so 1) am i wrong for not paying full price? and 2) do you think i was being a dick for being a very well educated buyer? I was able to see how long the car was sitting, which they didnt like, and all of their 11 mach-e's were over 220 days on the lot, and/or are they just being dicks? Shit, at least come back to me with like $1500 off. but not even a penny? jesus christ? i should just call ever for dealership on the west coast to see who would take my deal. I bet one of them would...
