My wife and I went to Dubrovnik a few weeks ago and spent 5 days there. Super great place to visit. Everyone speaks English and people are very friendly. They are on the EURO so it makes transactions easy too. Great Mediterranean food, tons of history, lots of cathedrals, so much to see and do. Truly an amazing place. We stayed in the Old Town (walled off area, no cars allowed). Within 10 seconds of leaving our BNB we could be at numerous bars, restaurants or shops. Weather was great (75-80 daytime, 60s at night). Overall a very safe place to visit, and very affordable if you go in Sept/Oct, outside of cruise ship season.

Some photos from the trip.

Dubrovnik has been on my "go back to" list for quite a while. Did you buy any moonshine in a hand painted bottle???

My gf went there when she visited her sister in Germany. She loved it and many people don't know that it is where a lot of Game of Thrones was filmed. The show really increased tourism I guess.

We have friends who live in Switzerland, and their 19 year old daughter stayed with us for 6 weeks this summer. They vacation in Croatia every year and she showed us photos from some of those vacations. I was amazed at how beautiful Croatia is. I was honestly surprised. My wife and I would love to visit Switzerland and maybe spend a couple of days in Croatia.

That's a weird coincidence: I just sold a set of Hot Wheels to a guy in Zagreb. Did some Google earth look-arounds and thought it was a beautiful country. Quick internet search & told the wife it looked like an interesting place to visit.
Thanks for the photos!

I'd highly recommend staying in the Old Town if you do go visit Dubrovnik. We stayed at Villa 5 DB and it was great. Perfect location!
