On the Nextdoor app, my neighborhood caught the same package thief on camera more than once so knew to keep an eye out.

Someone finally saw her in the act since they knew what vehicle to look for. Here's the full story:

Cops were called and they started following her, so she pulled in to this driveway, trying to pretend she lives there (she doesn't):

Hahaha good reference! Nah, silver nitrate was a staple in "mark the mark" pranks because it stains the absolute hell out of anything it touches, including skin.

I've had packages stolen before (thankfully nothing expensive), but my neighbors had their entire Christmas stolen last year right off their porch. They were home when it happened. Our neighborhood is one long cul-de-sac, and I know every vehicle that should be here. No joke, we have at least 5 vehicles per hour scout the neighborhood from 3-5pm each night around the holidays. I've stood out there in my garage as they creep past everyone. I wave and flip them off. Very easy to tell what they're doing. Not saying I live in Beverly Hills, but it's somewhat conspicuous when a caravan of $150-$500 junker cars come bumbling through one after the next.

I thought about leaving a package out on the steps and staying home to watch it. Maybe get a $10 Harbor Freight motion alarm to notify me when someone comes up the walkway. Ah the things I'd do if I knew I wouldn't get caught...

You live in SC. You could probably treat thieves like Marv treats hitmen and no jury would bat an eye:

Hopefully she's a legal citizen and pays time for the crimes instead of deportation. Otherwise she will come back and just start doing it again.

not at my post...
Dont know its been posted here but there is a guy selling fake packages that have shotgun shell blanks inside that go off when they try to take the box

great idea, they are cheap to, just go with a perimeter alarm like this....whether or not you want to use blanks is up to you, I'd use phosphorus :D

On a serious note, as much as I would enjoy watching someone blowing to pieces opening a remote IED, (and totally ignoring the liabilty in the court system) I wouldn’t want to see innocent people hurt. Whether those were the kids of the scum that stole the device, or unrelated innocent people in the area...

The skin-dying material, concentrated skunk juice, pepper spray... all that would be too great

All we need is a 3rd world YouTuber to make it happen...

In the video he states he DID go to the cops... And they flat out told him it wasnt worth their time
...and this is how most theft is handled, so...

I say glitter bomb, mark, and scent spray is a good deterrent.

Loading it with tacks would be very nice. Not lethal, but heh you know you would not try it again.

My house was broken into and things stolen so I bought a security system. The security system was ordered and delivered to my front porch and it got stolen before I got home.. Go figure.

It was found a week later still complete in the school playground a 1/2 block away so some kids probably took it then left it when they discovered it wasn't worth anything to them.

So it appears that package thefts are on the increase, especially since it's the holidays and so many consumers use the Internet to order gifts. This former NASA engineer, Mark Rober, decided to punish people who stole packages from his front porch. He used his extensive background to booby-trap some fake packages, leaving them out for thieves to take. He even set up cameras to record the aftermath. So now, here we have some vigilante justice. Some of the reactions the thieves had is priceless. :D
