I owned a full tilt max grip 97 cobra. Anyone who tells you it won’t work is full of shit. You’ll have a hard enough time trying to out drive the car. It’s not an SLA setup but it’s probably one of if not the best for a traditional mustang.

I couldn’t agree more. When I tracked bikes everyone told me (who didn’t track) said I should get a 1000cc bike. But I can’t even push a 600cc to its limits so it’s pointless.

Like you said, if I’m at the elite level there might be different combinations that work better at certain tracks. But I don’t know if I will ever get that good. I’ll be happy with MM stuff. It’s never disappointed, it’s strong and dependable. Their customer service is absolutely top notch. That counts for something.

What's with all the hate on MM??

That’s a good question. I have had nothing but great experience with their products and customer support.

I’m open for opinions but if someone is going to cop attitude over the internet on a build thread it makes me not want to go through the trouble of making one. It’s a lot easier when I don’t have to snap pics during the work.

I think I speak for most of us when I say that I hope you continue to come back and update.
My 98 is going through some huge changes right now too, and I find your thread quite interesting.

Yeah me too, I've only ever bought MM. Seems to work great for me and their customer service can't be beat.

My Cobra has MM LCA and one was cracked when I bought it, (car was abused) and I called them to see if I could get one discounted and the guy said "hell, what's your address? We'll just mail you one at no charge" They even sent new bushings for the other side and a bunch of stickers ha.

So Griggs still sucks?

I dunno. How many new threads are there about Griggs failures ?

FYI, I have no opinions about either company, but trying to support a position with 15 year old info is laughable.

Sorry for the derail.

Griggs makes pretty solid products. For every thread I see showing an issue like that, I see a thousand others showing the quality and performance of their products.. so pick your poison.

MM is great stuff. Great company. Great folks to deal with. Jack has always been very helpful and I can't speak highly enough of him.

I think the only thing that reflected poorly on MM was the IRS debate a few years ago between MM and FTBR. Especially now that they've reneged to using only Derlin in the UCA/LCA due to poly's tendency to warp and deflect. They touted it as the best approach, but eventually figured out Delrin was the only proper material for those joints- essentially agreeing/proving Bruce's point.

Regardless, even the best companies make mistakes and the best companies come back and improve on their designs and engineering decisions. MM, FTBR, and Griggs seem to always do that, so I can't really find fault there.

Thanks, I certainly appreciate the kind words.

I personally would appreciate if you kept this thread going with pictures. I thoroughly enjoy reading and watching the progress.

Noted!

That truly is awesome!

Yes, but is it still relevant?

Have there been more recent threads posted?

Is it relevant? Every person is going to have their opinion on that. But because it was 15 years ago doesnt mean its erased and shouldnt be considered at all.

How many new threads? I dont know but I have seen some negative feedback on their weld quality as recent as late 2017... so to your previous question it is still relevant.

I didnt start this thread to compare companies. But for anyone who wants to keep pointing why someone else is better than MM, come buy the car and build it using your favorite company.

For anyone who has constructive criticism about the build I am open to that but lets not beat a dead horse.

Thank you sir!!

My constructive criticism is show some constraint on this one and don't make it a show winning build like the four eye lol

I can assure you this car is going to get it’s intended use and abuse. It will get bumps and bruises. I plan to share and document all of it here with you folks!
