Out of the blue, a few weeks back, a major player in my industry calls me and asks if I might be interested in coming to work for them. I had been approached by them before, two years ago, everything went great till we got to the bottom line and they tried to go cheap on me. Thanks, but call me if you change your mind. I figured that was that, they're a huge outfit, they don't bargain with anyone, and they were kind of PO'd when I didn't accept.

To sum it up: a whole bunch of stuff changed, they changed their minds, and they called me. Offering gee-whiz money and gee-whiz training on equipment which is in the direction I have been wanting to go, professionally. Well, ok then!

Last day at the current job, the 23rd, new job, the 26th.

These last few years it seems like I have hit a lucky streak. Dunno how long this can last, but I'm riding this train until it stops!

Grats JS! Good to hear good people are landing the important jobs! Once I retire, I hope to make "gee-whiz $$" lol

I believe he works on xray machines......
Yep, just an x-ray machine mechanic. Only instead of gas, it's photons (gnarly non-visible bastard photons!), instead of superchargers, it's gigantic capacitors, and 150,000 volts DC ... but ... pretty much the same thing.

There were talks of a consolidation in my area. For two years I was stalked by the head honcho saying that if this went through, he wanted me to come to work for him. The week after it was official, he was in my office asking what will it take to get me. I retired June 30th of last year with a pension. And make a salary at my current job and can earn another pension if I can hang out long enough. Worked out well. Good luck!

Danggg.. I'm jelly. I have a very good position with a great company in Data Management with tons of room to grow. The fortunate side is in due time if I decide I want to branch out into different forms of Data Management, I can since it's all pretty much the same. It's all about widgets after all.

Congrats on the position. I certainly wish you the best

Do you work on mri? Is that what you're saying because I don't know enough about them even though I've gotten three rides in those tubes. Real tough for me being inside those as I'm not small and I'm claustrophobic.

MRI, which uses magnetic fields, CT which uses rotating x-rays, regular x-ray, ultrasound ... everything except nuclear medicine. If it makes a medical image of your insides, you will eventually find me there working on it. Except nuc med.

How does one get into a field like that?
