ive had a few people inquire so i figured id post up a new thread to see if there is enough interest in doing another GB for these hoods. despite taking over a year for the last GB (due to making the mold) the hoods were a success. now that the molds are already made, it will be much quicker this time. yes, moldS. three molds are used to make this complex hood, which is why it costs what it does. but at least you get a unique, very exclusive and FUNCTIONAL hood.

not only do these hoods weigh a lot less than the heavy stock hood, they help tremendously with cooling. and thats not even the biggest benefit. real advantage to this hood is downforce. the stock hood traps a lot of air under it which causes lift on the front end at high speed. this hood helps drastically cut that down. not to mention the extended lip that was added to the front of the hood to cover the gap helping cut wind resistance. as well as the extended lip at the cowl that helps wind flow better over the windshield in a known turbulent area.

all the hoods are made of 3 separate pieces that are permanently bonded together. you have the top shell, the heat extractor area, and the bottom shell. all three come together and are bonded. im pretty sure this is standard construction for most hoods. these fit just like a stock hood and use the stock mounting brackets and hood latch. no major modification is needed.

you have three choices of hood construction to choose from.
A. Duraflex: a mixture of fiberglass and plastic use to create a very lightweight, yet more flexible material. this hood is lighter than stock. (ill have to weigh one). it comes in a very nice matte black finish that is ready for paint. there are no rough spots that need smoothing or work. the bottom side can be left unpainted as it is very nice and looks like it was painted matte black (if you choose). this is a great option for those who want to paint their hood to match the car

B. 50/50: due to the hood having a top shell and bottom shell we are able to use carbon fiber for the top half and duraflex for the bottom half. the carbon fiber layer has a UV resistant gel coating that does not need to be painted. they do not yellow or get cloudy over time. no need to add another coat of clear and painting is not mandatory. this was THE most popular choice in the previous group buy.

C. 100% carbon fiber: both the top shell and bottom shell are 100% carbon fiber. it is ultra light weight and we advise that you run hood pins on it for extra security. please contact Carlos aka Racebronco to purchase the appropriate set.

we need to make 10 of these just to make 1. i can probably swing one or two but that's about it. my CC is still maxed from the last GB lol. i havent even recouped the cost of the mold yet. so hopefully this happens!

being a Group Buy there will obviously be a sizeable discount. you only need to put a 50% deposit down to get in (either 50% or 100%). if you get in on this GB i will include a TF t-shirt. if you put 100% deposit down you will get 2 (different designs).

DISCOUNTS: if you have ever purchased a brand new set of wheels from True Forged (directly) and/or are a military active/veteran you will get a $50 discount. if both, $100 discount. i appreciate my customer's business and our vets service and sacrifice

SHIPPING: west of the Missisisipiipii is $175 and east of it is $200. you do not need to pay for shipping until you are ready to have it shipped. i still have one hood left from the previous GB due to the customer not being ready to have it shipped yet. as long as the hood is paid for, it can sit here as long as it needs to.

LEAD TIME: im told that if we get this going asap we're looking at approximately 3 months, give or take. the longer we wait, the longer it will take, as we get closer to summer and eventually SEMA.

PRICING: as predicted in the last GB the pricing has gone up a little. i was told it would go up even more on the 50/50s and it has, by a bit. since that is the most popular choice im going to discount them even more, out of my own pocket. basically, order a DF or CF hood and get a $200 discount. order a 50/50 and its $250! (the discount covers the cost of shipping)

*due to the sizeable discounts these prices pertain to "cash payments". ie check or money order. no, we cannot accept a Paypal payment as a gift. that got shut down years ago due to abuse. debit card, credit card and paypal payments must add 3% to cover the fees.

Serious heat extraction! I love how it looks installed on the DSG Cobra.

Very tempting ;). I'm leaning towards a Carbon Fiber one but curious as to why the hood pins are necessary Steve? Any pictures of the CF hood installed on Oxford White?

I have OW Cobra and the CF hood. I have not yet had the time to complete anything as life has taken over. My hood is mounted, but not closing or 100% mounted. If you want some pics, send me a PM with your number and I can shoot it to you. Either way, Steve is great to do business with and will work with you!....plus the hoods looks sick! I am wanting and waiting to try out the hood for its cooling benefits!

Hmmm..interested. Although I do like the look of the factory hood, some weight loss and better cooling are tempting. Anybody have real world cooling results; ECT and/or IAT

i dont have datalogs to give exact temps on cooling but i have been driving my car and watching the gauges long enough to notice the difference. recovery time during cruising is much quicker and once the fan kicks on it cools faster. you can see the heat pouring out the hood when sitting at a light.
add in the stability at high speed and i was sold. plus they look killer!

check out GB thread #1 where racebronco discusses the benefits of the hood. he saw huge gains in standing mile events. pretty big gains in top speed with just the hood alone. not that it adds power, it reduces the drag, thereby making the car faster.

if you drive down for the weekend to pick the hood up in person, you'll save a nice chunk on shipping alone.

Still on the fence since the last GB and waiting on the same info. I believe I have read most of Race Broncos posts related to temps but I have been waiting for some more data on improvement of underhood temps and IAT's from these hoods. Its gonna take alot for me to want to change the stock appearance of my SB Cobra.

I know you probably don't want to hear this but what about making the first design of racebronco hood? I really like the looks of it.

we would need at least 10 people if not more to be on board for that hood. its $2k just to have a mold made. im still trying to recoup the $ from this one lol.

Either do a search of my screen name which goes back to 2004 or read the posts in the 1st group buy. If you do a search of my screen name you will see the other cooling mods i have to help even more. With the ported Eaton my iat's were much lower than with the Whipple. With the Whipple i have never seen my temps or ait's so high ever. I had to use a 80's VW rabbit radiator for a heat exchanger which kept temps in check. Too much to discuss here so just do a search.
