$30,500 for a base model Mustang GT with no options (aside from typical standard options) and you guys are all screaming YIPPEE that's awesome. Even if you were lucky enough to score a 0% interest rate through Ford Credit on a 2011 GT, you'd still be paying about $508 a month for 5 years for one of these things LOL  :bash:

Oh I understand inflation alright, I'm not an idiot. I don't blame Ford for the pricing. I'm just making a comment on how things have gotten so expensive. Paying over 500 a month for a base model Mustang GT is ridiculous. Then you factor in the average median income, insurance, gas, and maintenance and for a lot of people that's easily half their monthly income.

But the question is, has the average income increased enough between 1999 and 2009 to compensate for increased inflation? A lot of employers don't give people more than a 2% raise each year. My employer does 2.5%, but does inflation only increase 2-3% each year?

Like someone said before. Base GT with a six speed and call it a day. Most phones have Nav now, you could probably get custom leather from a shop cheaper than the factory and the base sound systems trump any previous upgrade system that Ford had.

Other than that, this furthers my decision that the Terminator is here to stay for me.

Did he by any chance mention if they are considering an adm?

They don't have one on the GT500's.

Whatever...glad we live in a free world and can MAKE our OWN opinions and purchases!!

If this site is correct (didn't see a more credible link in my search) inflation has ranged from 2-4% over the last 10 years. But it's doubtful that incomes increase at the same rate, hence why inflation is considered a "problem."

problem with inflation is there is no way especially now with the economy the way it is for people to keep up with it. Very few people see large raises every year to keep up with inflation, most get a few percent if that every couple of years and many haven't gotten anything in the last two years except a pay cut.

exactly, which is why I am commenting on how expensive the Mustang has become, or how expensive cars in general have become. It's gotten to the point where if the average person wants a nice car, you almost have to lease it to be able to afford it.

If Ford hadn't broken up the body style change and new drive train options there stands a good chance that base GT could have been more then 30K.

You are comparing a top of the line mustang with a base model GT.

Yay for lack of brain cells.

How is a 400HP GT premium much different than a 390HP Cobra??

The new GT's have a FAR better build quality, better front suspension and stronger rear suspension, and much nicer interior :poke:

forged internals and built engine vs not. I think that basically matters most to almost anyone interested in modifying a car. It's the difference between being able to run plenty of boost and being able to run only bolt ons or a very conservative amount of boost.
