I have a couple more days until I get my server(s) back up.. Until then I am vidless. This dude with the Enzo should be some awesome footage. He has quite the collection. The first time I saw him I was puttin along and he flashed by in his F40.. But damn it.. the interior in that is just so 80s huh?

I sold my Cobra after a bit of mindless trouble. My good friends are carrying the torch. Fbody83 (Matt) with his brand new (6k miles) Black 03 and KissMySVT (Neil) with his Yellow CPIE 03 (who needs to get a twin screw!!).

I have seen many people making significantly more power on lower boost levels....

Boost is only a measure of restriction..(displacement, heads/cam, intake mani, exhaust mani. all play a role in how much boost you see). A fully built motor might see 15psi and make 800rwhp, a stock motor at the same boost levels isn't pushing half as much air because of all the restrictions and might only make 550rwhp . Boost #s don't mean squat, not to mention people sometimes run higher boost and pull timing or vise versa.

I can show you a heads/cam/stroker Cobra that makes 550rwhp on only 9psi with a stock eaton. Does that mean it's comparable to what other eaton cars make at 9psi?

A turbo puts out pressure and flow. Saying car A and car B are both running 18 PSI is meaningless. One might have a small turbo set up for auto-x that only flows 350 CFM but spools up by 2,500 RPM. The other might have a large turbo for drag racing that flows 800 CFM but doesn't fully spool until 4,500 RPM. Car B might make as much as twice the horsepower at Car A at the same PSI.

To make matters even more confusing, a turbo that would be considered a drag racing turbo on a small motor, might be considered an auto-x turbo on a larger motor.

That's why the turbo guys are always looking at compressor maps trying to find the perfect match for their setup and intended use (drag racing, auto-x, street car, etc).

I just took a look over at www.nasioc.com. They have a list of commonly used turbos for subarus. There are currently 99 turbos on that list. Imagine if you have the choice of 99 superchargers for your cobra, all with wildly different charactersitics.

You apparently missed my point. I owned as early as last spring an 03 WRX, I know about CFM and the different flow rates. We aren't talking a small turbo for a flat four, we are talking about a guy who came in here talking shit and on a 99' Cobra needs 17 lbs. of boost to only make 580hp. I understand the size of the blower or turbo dictates how much power at a certain boost level is made. My point is perhaps you shouldn't talk shit if out of your supercharger options you chose a paxton that would need to produce 17 lbs. to give nominal results.

Example:

I had a IHI VF30 turbo on my WRX, slightly bigger than a VF39 than came stock on the STi and about the same size as a VF22 just not ballbearing. I added 5 lbs. over stock and ran 18 lbs. and made 375hp at the crank over the 227 stock. I added with each lbs. of boost 29.6hp.

If his Cobra made 620 crank and it made 320 stock.... with each lbs. of boost he adds about half of what I did using 5lbs. and a fairly small turbo on the WRX. My point is his system was pretty ineffcient to come into a TBSS - Turbo thread and start talking shit.

It is fitting that my brick would fly past a soccer mom suv any day. I'll come visit one day. Or maybe you can meet down here for a night of fun. But that may not be an option with all the people that know who you really are...just a liar.

Funny that race was mentioned (Galant) I just watched that video on youtube.. yea they are about all on there. The 1st was did suck, but it looked like ya got to him at about the 1320, just listening to the gearing.. of course the 2nd run was obviously better... a good 3/4 of a second faster than that thing. :beer:

So far so good.. I just can't seem to shake the friggin thing. When it dies, a T-56 out of a SSR will be going in.. god help me on that one.. Interior modification is going to suck hard. Plus the whole gauge cluster deal - VSS.. MPG.. etc etc. I am pretty sure the MPG and a couple other things get calculated by VSS and inj pulse width.. But.. its still going to suck.. After that, I can exhale a long.. tired. deep breath.. and work on stupid shit that I never get around to.. like a carputer.. but I might do z06 brakes first.. blah. it never ends.

6 speed, z06 brakes... i like the way you think!!! i'm still under 1k miles on mine, but plans are being made for big things to come!!! have you researched the trans swap much? i hope you go through with it first so i dont have to be the test car. :-D
also, what exhaust are you running?

I'm game for a race (H/C + bolt-on + spray GC SRT8 vs you 93-94 oct pump gas), in fact we're doing a track rental at MIR, which is halfway between us, as soon as it opens in the early spring. There will be quite a few 10 second Jeeps there as well, maybe the guy with the built 402 + 300 shot can make it too?
