This is a great thread! I work in the aftermarket selling parts, and yes there is alot of crap on the market.I am just starting to mod the Cobra and dont want to make all of the same mistakes I did with my 98 Cobra! So keep the good advice flowing.

caveman6666 said:Nothing wrong with the filter itself, but the shield is a flimsy POS and fit so poorly it was essentially useless. I had to hack the hell out of it to keep it off the AC lines and wiring harnesses, and there's no provision for securing the filter assembly which leaves it bouncing around. Not a good thing for a sensitive MAF.

Bassani Headers because they leak. The installation was expensive and not worth the gains and additional noise.
Bassani X pipe. The cats are always screwing up. I'm on my 3rd set and not worth the additional noise. It also hangs too damn low.
Steeda catback. WAY WAY WAY WAY WAY too much drone. This mod was the biggest waste of 600 dollars. No improvement on the dyno over a stock catback. ZERO!
If I was to do it all over again a KB would be my frist mod. I would leave the exhaust stock, throw in a solid axle, replace the injectors, maf, tb, shifter, cai.
Spec3i clutch. WAY WAY WAY too grabby for my taste.
Like the others, I've had no problems with my AR CAI either. Good fit, good support of the MAF.caveman6666 said:Nothing wrong with the filter itself, but the shield is a flimsy POS and fit so poorly it was essentially useless. Of course you take the belt off first! Duh. Their idler is basically a press fit onto their bracket so you need to go at it with a hammer and block of wood to get it off. Unless you have some kind of puller that fits it. The Steeda guy told me to just "tap" it off. Yea, right.03yellow said:Your supposed to take the belt off first. :??: I took me 5mins to put it on and 2mins to take it off????

Never had a problem with the wind. And the San Diego weather makes it great ;-)postban said:Yep, no point to it unless you live where you can drop it more than 4 days a year. Actually no point to it over 65mph (wind abuse) or under 60 degrees (freezing) or over 80 degrees (sweating)
I am cured forever.

The flowmaster cat back didn't fit and I had to have a muffler shop hack it in.
PlatinumCobra said:The damned Zaino mod. It sucks and costs too much. :nonono:
postban said:Borla Stinger, utterly deafening, forget using your phone/radio or ever talking to passengers. (this was with catted Bassani X, which is a great mod)
Big_Torch said:Really, I just got my stingers on today, and was on the phone for about 25 minutes and was fine, ears a little too sensitive maybe? I'm pondering the MRT h-pipe (catted) to make it louder under WOT, I can notice a little louder under cruising but thats fine for me, I only wanna hear it when i STOMP.
