I have a good friend that is trading in an R8 on a 2019 ZR1. I'll be traveling with him down to Florida next week to drop off the R8 and pick up his new Corvette. Really looking forward to experiencing the last of the C7 beasts. If it matters, MSRP on it is $140,678.

I am not saying the Chal/Char are not awesome, I have one. But pooping out a slightly different version of the same car over and over is not innovative. At some point they will be left behind, arguably it is happening now.
Okay I see what you mean now, fair point and agree.

Lets be honest, that chassis isn't the reason it's still adored. The first time I drove one in anger, the only thing I could say was I liked the engine and the way it looks.
Agree the Terminator engine was the real jewel but Klaus's comment was about chassis age and my statement was with respect to that.

Terminator engine made the SN-95 chassis, Trinity engine made the S197 chassis and the Hellcat engine is making the Chal/Char chassis. So what's the moral of the lesson? High HP motors make cars amazing lol.

I didn’t read all 8 pages of this thread, but Patent blue prints seem to point to a smaller dohc twin turbo V8 making 700ish hp in the Z06 and the same motor making 800ish hp plus four hybrid electric motors (one at each wheel) for a combined hp nearing 1,000.

I doubt the z06 Will get the tt since it's more of a corner Carver. I'd bet on that being reserved for the zr1 variant.

The C8 vs FGT argument is comical...Everyone that bashes the C8 for one dumb reason or another always forgets that Corvette has always been bang for the buck. You are getting an assembly line MASS PRODUCIBLE mid engine chassis at an affordable price. Sure the Z06 and ZR1 variants may reach $200K but again it is coming off an assembly line where the FGT....goodluck getting one. Why are we comparing a car you can't order/own to a car you can walk into a dealership and "build your own" and place an order lol. I can find things I don't like (rear tail lights) but I step back and look at the big picture.

C8 will COMPETE against the GT3/GT3 RS and maybe some Ferrari variants. Will it have the build QUALITY of those other cars? No, but again that wasn't the goal of the C8. They upped their game with things like push button adjustable shocks etc. to bring the tech up to speed. Some buy performance only, some buy the name and some buy it all lol.

I know this is a Ford site and I have a C5Z sitting in my garage...but taking ALL things into account no one can find fault with what the C8 is doing. Chevrolet whipped their d!ck out on the table and we will see what company comes along to have a measuring contest. It will be interesting to see the 2020? GT500 and it's capabilities. My view of Ford has been they want the HP game winner (2020 GT500 comes to mind), and Chevrolet countered with a whole new chassis design lol.

Yup, what this guy said:

If nothing else Chevy really is killing it, they already have the C8 on there site with tons of info and ability to virtually build it. Mean while Ford just recently released some but not all the info on the 2020 GT500 and on there site all you get is a little picture and limited description paragraph.....WTF Ford!?

Surrounded by libetards.
The color choices and options even on the base car are sick too with an easy to use configurator.

the GT500 isn't the crown jewel of ford. its cool but its just another mustang. a really cool mustang but ford makes TONS of awesome cars.

chevy doesn't. chevy NEEDS to build the hype. they NEED the halo effect.

Ford definitely takes shortcuts. And they are doing so with the build configuration on their site.
How ford put such a small ass screen in the gt350 ($55k) car is crazy. The big screen should be standard.

Don’t get me wrong, I have no allegiance with any brand, I just like ford more and imo they have the complete portfolio of desirable cars. Ford gt, svt raptor, focus Rs and ST, gt350r, gt500. I’m not sure if the ranger raptor will be sold here.

Ummm Ford has stopped making cars with is the exception of what, the Mustang and the $200k+ super limited production FGT. What other tons of cars are you referring to?

If you're inferring the FGT is Ford's crown jewel I wouldn't disagree with that. However the C8 is less $$ and probably will have better performance numbers, I say probably because Ford hasn't released GT500 performance numbers so we can't really say yet.

Either way Ford's marketing is really dropping the ball and Chevy and Dodge are killing it.

raptor
gt350
bullitt
every other mustang variant
anything with the 2.7 ecoboost
all the ST vehicles
focus RS
GT
etc etc

then just do that going back in time to list out all of the most iconic cars of all time.

they've not always made the best stuff but ford continually produces the most iconic cars of any other auto manufacturer on the planet. I'm pretty happy with what they're doing currently.

I'll buy you a cheeseburger if the standard C8 is faster than a GT around a track.

I simply disagree. People thought they were crazy when they made the raptor and look at how successful that thing is. they've proven that they're better at business and cars than chevy and dodge who can't compete globally and produce vehicles of inferior long term quality. that goes double for dodge.

Ummm Ford has stopped making cars...

Ford stopped selling cars in North America. They're still making and selling cars in the rest of the world. They just released an all-new Focus in Europe a few months ago. The ST version is already getting high marks from reviewers.

Try 450k+ for a GT

LOL In the real world of attainable cars it is...can you even get a FGT without being invited to own one? You need to compare cars coming off an assembly line, not a mass produced car to a hand built limited edition vehicle.

Many fail to see the BIG picture of the C8. They just see shitty tail lights, or that it looks like a FGT yadda yadda. It's a sub $100k mid engine V8 sports car that you can walk into a dealership and order one.

Just like you corrected the guy on the price of the GT, I was correcting the guy who said Ford doesn't make cars anymore. So, in that same vein, who cares how much the GT costs? Most people can't get one, anyway.

Here’s when Ford will stop making most of its cars – TechCrunch

Technically they’re still making the Fusion right now besides the Mustang. Focus will be imported if it’s brought here.
