After finding out last fall that we had a baby due in May, I quickly realized I was going to need to adjust my vehicle a little. With the newest addition, we'll be up to 4!

My original thought was a new Expedition Platinum Max, however I didn't want to have to worry about the amount of miles we were going to put on it, nor if the kids tore anything up. But it would have looked awesome..

Then I thought I would find a low mileage Excursion with the 7.3L Diesel. Well, they're few and far between. I did find a few, but had a hard time justifying $50k on a vehicle that was 20 years old and had 50k miles on it.

After getting hit in the face with that, I realized that maybe an Expedition Max was my best option. THEN, I found Custom Autos By Tim and immediately decided this was the way to go. I first wanted to go big, so I started looking for a Platinum/King Ranch F-350/450 because how cool would it be to have a dually Excursion? I couldn't find a truck that I would want to use, so I got a little discouraged and opened up to SRW F-350s and F-250s.

I found three trucks, and started to get pricing from Tim on a conversion. I felt like they were pretty reasonable for the amount of work they have to do, and how "OEM" it looks when they're finished. I happened to run across a YouTube video of one, and I'm not sure what made me comment, as I never do, but I did. Shortly after, a guy reached out to me telling me that he had one and might be interested in selling it to upgrade to a F-650 Excursion...

We talked for a couple of weeks, and he finally agreed to my terms. I'm going to fly out in a week or two and drive it home! I'll be removing the lights in the grill/windshield

, tinting the windows, straight piping/EGR delete, and then more than likely a leveling kit with wheels and tires. Excuse the filthy pictures, I'll post better ones when I get it in my possession.

That's very cool, can't wait to see what it looks like after new wheels/tires and the leveling kit.

Man, that sucker is HUGE! How many miles on it?

I absolutely love that '19 Expedition Platinum Max in the photo. Gorgeous! But I understand that your needs are really more for something that you can push around without worry of incidental damage (from the kids) and mileage. Post a couple of photos after you take delivery.

It'll have 38,000 on it once I get it home from Ohio.

The girlfriend wanted the Expedition Max..haha but we'll see. We may end up with one at some point anyways.

Are you going to save some dough buying it this way?

Probably $15-20k or so. A conversion costs about $55k, plus the original truck.

That looks sweet. No smog checks for your area?

I'm going to run it on a dealer tag, so it doesn't need to pass emissions or state inspection.

Nice. I'm surprised hasn't built a new one. There's certainly a market for it.

I 100% agree with it. I tried to talk Tim in to building an Excursion on the 2017+ frame...this was their response:

I haven't seen that one before, but I haven't been down to Parker in a while. An old neighborhood friend rolls around in a white MegaRaptor in South A-town.

As much as I love my 01 Ex, these modern ones are every bit better than my rig. Now I want one.

Badass rig there!

Is it originally a 2015 truck that they converted to an excursion? Or an original Excursion body refitted with all 2015 stuff?
