That was a little uncalled for. He's just doing his job, you have the right to walk away and not pay him any attention rather than be disrespectful towards a man who served. I understand where your coming from but if it wasn't for those men you wouldn't have the right to walk away and not listen. Somewhere else he could snatched you up and told you that your joining don't matter if you like it or not. Not cool man

Every Army/Navy/Whatever recruiter I have ever met has been a complete douch.... I remember once walking out of a Wal-Mart in college and one approached me. "Hey Buddy you want to serve tour country?". Me: no I'm good thanks. Him "you owe your country bla bla". By this time I've had enough and lost it on him. I don't owe you or anyone else anything, you signed up and now the government owns your ass. Go meet your quota somewhere else. I'm not gonna die for some politicians BS war. He then begins to tell me I have a better chance dying in a car wreck leaving here then getting blown up overseas.

I served 4 years active duty in the corps from 99-03. I'm a service connected disabled veteran.

Here's the deal. Whatever country you live in YOU DO OWE. Some countries give you the choice to serve while others ask for volunteers. It wasn't long ago that the United States didn't ask for volunteers, you simply got drafted. Tough shit. So consider it a luxury and a big one at that, that you are not required to serve.

This is a prime example of an entitlement attitude too many have today. You are entitled to enjoy the benefits of living in America but have done nothing to actually earn that. You blame the bad decisions of the politicians as your reasoning? Really? So if our politicians didn't make bad decisions you would have joined? How about the fact that as an adult male reaping the benefits of a great country, you actually want to defend it? You don't need to serve in the infantry. Tell us what your good at, there will be a job that utilizes your skill in the military.

It's laughable today that the men of America look down at serving in the military. You go back to any point in time and find a country that had a strong military and people jumped at the chance to serve their country. It was an honor and a duty.

Instead we have citizens looking down upon the service and complaining that the illegals are here to steal their jobs. I guess I just don't get it.

I like that some countries have some mandatory participation requirements. People should like and respect where they live and never look down on a military career. I think there is a flipside to this guy being an asshole though, and that's the people in the military who think they are doing gods work getting hollier than thou when in reality they didn't have many real career options and just kind of ended up in it. Oh and so they could get that signing bonus and buy a sweet mustang... ****ing hypocrites.

The military seems to get a lot of bro morons or guys who had an ulterior motive, like stay safe and get a kick ass pension in 20/benefits/free college degree/whatever. They aren't there for the U.S.A they're looking out for #1. The one guy I know who really did bleed red white and blue, very intelligent, joined right out of high school 13 years ago and got up into high-level work. He started having a not very serious health issue and the Air Force is screwing him out of his full pension by discharging him over a technicality because it's cheaper for them, in the long run, to let him go. He's is not happy and now people he's worked with are pulling strings to hopefully get him a good private sector job.

A-freakin-men.

Many in the current generation are oblivious to what it takes to keep this nation safe & free. They don't understand the meaning of the word "service" and have no desire to learn.

Hats off to you & "Thank You" for your Service to the nation.
