Post up your gun of choice for the following:

I'm looking to increase my collection.

Keep In mind I live in Mass. so I cannot purchase a new Glock at a gun shop so while I know many prefer this brand I won't be buying one.

Your preferred conceal and carry.

Your preferred home defense gun.

Your preferred gun for shooting at the range for pure enjoyment.

Today is a snow out in Mass so I'm doing a little research.

I included the mods for your internet searching pleasure.......FYI I live in a free state.

Carry IWB: Glock 23 Gen 4 USA made with TruGlo Night Sights, 3.5# connector, .25 cent polish job (youtube it), grip tape, Comptac MTAC holster [I know you said no Glocks, sorry that sucks. Are the 10 round Glocks still banned?]

Home Defense: Daniel Defense AR-15 5.56, 14.5" barrel with pinned flash suppressor, light-weight barrel, light weight hand guard, Magpul hand stop, Geissele SSA trigger, EOtech holo sight, streamlight TRL-1 HL light, Viking Tactical Sling [Daniel Defense will no longer custom make guns like this unfortunately]

Enjoyment Gun: Springfield XDM 5.25" 9mm pistol, no modifications, shoots like a damn laser beam and is affordable to shoot, want to do PRP trigger in the future

unless it is full auto and you don't mind spraying your entire house, an AR is not the best for home defense. Get a shotgun and learn how to use it properly. AR is fun at the range and will be great during the next civil war and the zombie apocolypse

Yup. All modern glocks are banned regardless of capacity. Reason being no safety.

Contrary to what anyone will tell you, an AR is never a good home defense weapon. They are extremely powerful little rounds that will go completely through your thin walls of your house and hit whatever is in the way behind them. Or could even go completely through your house, and enter someone elses house. Handgun or shotgun are preferred home defense weapons.

I use both a 1911/XDM 9mm for home defense, Sig P938 for CC, and my fun range toys are my ARs.

Conceal carry:
1911
Jericho 941
FN Five-Seven

Home defense:
DP-12
PS90
Tavor X95

Don't really have a fun range gun except for my DE50, I take everything when I go shooting.

In my state:

Glock 19
Glock 19
Kimber Gold Match II 1911

Your State:

Colt Delta Elite
Colt Delta Elite
Any Custom 1911

Pick one weapon for conceal and home defense and train and practice with often. So long as it fits you well and is reliable it will serve you well for defense of the home and away. There is no best pistol, it is really how much you train with it that will decide if it is effective when you really need it.

A nice 1911's as a pure range toy cannot be beaten. If you want to part with money, go look at the STI website.

Here's why that is wrong. Check out this video...the 9mm penetrated 3" deeper than a 2.23. The reason being that rifle rounds tumble and slow down.

Carry gun Glock 43. Soon to be CZ PCR with some custom work.

I really enjoy shooting my 1911 at the range. I have a gp100 that is great at the range also and a custom ruger security six that was set up for police competition shooting that can make anyone look like a good shot. home deference Glock 32 typically sometimes a sig m11-a1. But also have the other normal stuff like an 870 and an AR.
If you dont have a 1911 or revolver I would look at those. I like a 4in revolver in 357/38special. they are lots of fun and very versatile.

-We aren't allowed to carry

-semi auto 12G for sure. I like the Weatherby sa-459 or possibly a kel-tec ksg

-can't really beat any decent ar15 for the range. I'd like to get an AR10 of some sort though. And any old bolt action 22 is imo the best camping gun.

I'm no expert though

Every day concealed carry: More often than not I have a SS Colt 5" 1911 or an Aluminum Colt 4.5" 1911 with an extra magazine on my belt. If my clothing doesn't allow a 1911 I have a .38 Colt Mustang with an extra magazine in my pocket.

Home Defense: A custom AR with ammo appropriate for the house.

Fun at the range: A custom .308 or my 5" 1911.

Preferred CC is my S.A. Range Officer Compact. It's 6 +1 but there are some manufacturers that make a 7 round flush fit, I use Wilson Combat so for me it's 7+1. I carry two extra mags[ 7 round] in the S.A. carrier that came with the pistol since it fits nice and close to my body. I carry OWB using a Bianchi holster. I've found, for me anyway it's the best way to carry and I carry my other pistols/revolvers the same way.
Home defense is a G30sf well hidden but I can get to it quick since the other toys hang out in the safe.

At the range I try to shoot what I carry but sometimes I bring whatever I haven't shot in a while. Oh almost forget the RO is in .45

Concerning MA firearm laws. If the firearm does not have a safety mechanism you can't purchase it in your state? If so, you options are pretty limited. Smith and Wesson has the M&P 45 auto 4.5 with a safety and also the M&P 45 shield has a safety features as well.

My list is easy because at the present time I only have one gun. A S&W M&P Shield 9mm (Performance Center mods). I like it enough for carry, home and range that it will probably be my only gun for awhile.

Just watched that video.... The .223 round went into the wood at the end, getting MUCH more resistance than the 9mm round did just going through the drywall. That video is so completely inaccurate it's laughable. If you fire both those rounds through the exact same material, the .223 round will ALWAYS have much more penetrating power. It's not a debate, it's fact and physics.

The average .223 round is shaped and designed to penetrate further with a muzzle velocity of about 3000fps, whereas the less pointed 9mm round has a muzzle velocity of about 1100fps. Case in point - .223 rounds have been tested to go through bullet proof vests, 9mm will not...

Here is a true comparison.
