Considering the full Rogue racing kit for an F-150 is over $24k, plus install if you can't do it yourself, your not talking the same price range, trim levels being equal.

And then you still don't have the traction control settings, or power levels of the raptor if those are important to you.

Yes, I understand that good suspension can more than make up for a little lack of power.

I guess the suspension system by itself is like $11k.

But that still doesn't include wheels and tires.

Are you talking new trucks? Just trying to compare MSRP to MSRP, a similarly equipped F150 with that suspension system is going to be over 70K before installation.

The more I poke around at this, if you equip a Raptor and a regular F150 to similar levels (as close as you can) the price of the Raptor goodies is about $13K. That doesn't really seem like a bad deal, you get the clever 4x4, drive modes, suspension, 75hp/40tq more and "the name," which helps substantially with resale.

Don't forget the unique frame.

I'm not disagreeing that the off road performance on the raptor could be better. Ford still had to make it driveable on road, so there were compromises to the off road performance.

my point is that there is still enough performance parts and goodies added to the raptor that makes the truck worth what they are asking (not including markups) when compared to a regular F-150 optioned similarly. I by no means see the raptor as a rip off.

The frame thing is not an issue on the stock newer f150's, or the old raptors.. fomoco just highlights that for warranty issues for idiots who take raptors to MX tracks.

My pricing may be off with us currency but here I was able to get a lariat 4x4 screw 2.7eb for 39k. A raptor is 90k STARTING PRICE lol... 40k difference will net you one hell of a truck. And I mean a different ballpark of what a stock raptor can handle.

Again I totally understand why people buy them, it's just not an amazing deal when you consider what you can build. @51kusd it makes perfect sense. At 70k.. no

Frame isn't an issue, but it is different. I know its at least reinforced on the new one, and the last gen I think it was significantly wider.

I should add. I'm not comparing msrp to msrp. I'm comparing what you can realistically get an f150 for.

Ford has really gone off the deep end with their pricing of this truck.
There is no way in hell an f-150 of any variant should clear $70k. o_O
I respectfully disagree as well.
There isn't another truck like that on the market that I know of, for instance, a brand new truck right off the lot with a warranty.

I talked to my co-worker who has a 2015 Ecoboost with the start/stop feature and he hates it. He says it's really easy to disable though. There is a button on the dash, IIRC, to disable it. Just press the button every time you start up and it doesn't cut the engine out. Maybe it's the same with the Raptor?

I'm not sure how you are comparing prices in currency.

If a base Raptor starts at $51k USD and that equals $90k Canadian... that means a $39k Canadian would equal about $22,100 USD.

I think a lot has to do with how canada taxes vehicles based on emissions. I don't know about canada specifically, but a lot of countries tax the ever living hell out of a 3.5 just because its bigger than a 1.5

Yes, displacement taxes. This is why DOHC, turbos etc became super popular overseas in the 80's. It's why the Japanese had such a leg up on the domestics in the 90's.

GM and Ford were turning out large displacement OHV V6's and V8's that struggled to make 120-220hp. Japan had a pile of 4bangers making 180-225hp with turbos or VVT.

This is also the major reason Ford launched the Ecoboost Mustang. They can now sell it globally at competitive cost of ownership.

Let's just say canadian pricing makes no sense. The difference between a 2.7eb and 3.5 isn't much either.

What can you sell a 2.7eb lariat crew 4x4 for during employee pricing? And can one actually buy a 51k raptor or do some magic numbers appear like they do up here?

I think its actually illegal for canadians to buy a car in the united states. I know there are some regulations against it.

One can buy a 51k raptor, plus tax, title, license, delivery fees etc. If you can find a dealer who will order a bare bones raptor.

Oh I know that, I'm not looking to buy one, we get great deals on normals ones up here as I do not need a raptor, was just curious what the pricing difference was down there

Ya, at this point in time I imagine it would be impossible to get a bare bones one. I'm sure there is far more profit for dealers and Ford in the loaded models, and the early adopters are more than willing to pay whatever it takes. It will probably be a year or so before it becomes more probable.

I'd venture to guess that less than 2% of the total build will be a base Raptor.
