There should be deals on both '12 GT500s and '12 Bosses. The inventories are stacking up for both here in CA. If you want a great deal, try walking into a dealer on Super Bowl sunday...That's how I got my '00 GT back in 2001.

I do. 40+ miles a day. It's fun!

I never owned a Cobra, but we do have a blown 500+rwhp 2010 Camaro. Even compared to that, the Boss still feels fast. Like it's always on the verge of just running away from you. It's a playful fast. Reminds me of my Lab puppy when we got him, it just wants to go. I don't know how else to explain it.

And a bonus, the forged innards are begging for boost when you get bored.

That's some good info. As I said, I think I've seen guys go 11.70s with them stock with drag radials. There must be a decent amount of power to do that. I need to find my way into one of these for a test drive.

I've been kicking around this idea also. I only have 18 payments left and figure I might as well pay off the cobra and then buy the boss. I would lose my a$$ if I dumped the cobra now after the mods and payments on it. I just want something more refined after owning 4 new edge stangs.

The Boss with a supercharger can make big power. I doubt that you would miss the Cobra at that point.

I still don't know what I am going to do. If a deal comes along, maybe I would do it, if not, I'll probably just keep the Cobra for now.

Do you miss the power that your Terminate had?

Sometimes on the Hiway I do but all around no. The BOSS is way better from a stop then my Cobra. Rides better, feels better, handles better. After having that power for a few years it got kinda old.

I'm with you lethal. They don't seem to break very often, but the T-56 is not a very refined tranny. Anyone know if the magnum T-56 is any better?

BTW, I am looking into a 2013 302 right now to replace one of my Terminators. Probably the coupe. I always like having a vert around, especially one with 500+ hp. I'm still dissapointed that you can't get orange with a 13. It is the best color.

$40K is a fair price if the Recaro/Torsen option is included.
If not 40 is about sticker for unoptioned Boss.

Thanks for the input. I am leaning toward's the Boss as my next Mustang. I'm just not sure when. If I see a good deal on them, it could be sooner, if not, then later.

Yeah, I think the tranny is plenty tough. It does it's job. I just wouldn't call it "buttery" lol

I've got an 03 Cobra, Boss and a 2011 premium 5.0L. The Boss and 5.0L by far offer so much more. There's just no comparing the ride, build quality and styling. The Boss and 5.0l are solid. No clunky doors, T56, crap stereo. As much as I love my 03 it's just dated. The Boss/5.0l are smooth as can be and a pleasure to drive. The handling on them are light years ahead of the cobra. The MT-82 has only been awesome for me in both of my cars. Light pedal, shifts like butter and can take a beating. The only thing that the Boss lacks from my 5.0l is a good sound system and sync which I believe may be an option on the 13' Boss.

The benefit of the Boss over the 5.0l is the appeal of it being a Boss and better internals. Put a vortech on one and it's one hell of a car.

With that said at the moment my choice for as daily driver would be the premium 5.0l. The leather, sync, power seats and sound system the premium GT has are all what I'd want out of something I drive daily.

However you look at it the 5.0l and Boss are a big step up from the Cobra. You'll thank everyone on here that told you to upgrade once you see what we mean.

Excellent post Jared.

I appreciate the DD info as well. I currently have an '06 Mazdaspeed6 as my DD, an '89 5.0 Coupe that I bought in '92 and my '04 Cobra. I'm ready to get down to two cars, so I'm trying to decide what two they might be.

One option is to sell all three of my current cars, buy a new 5.0 or Boss and either drive that in the winter with snow tires (I'd probably feel bad doing that to the Boss) or leasing a cheap Focus for winter.

I am in the same position as the original poster. I keep going back and forth on a decision. Unfortunately, I can't bare to get rid of my 03 Cobra. I fully realize the boss is a better built car for obvious reasons, but I just can't replace all the good times Ive had in my 03 (we have history!). I guess the only option is to continue to save for a Boss and have both.

I just made the switch last week, I had an 04 Cobra I sold to my son. Then found a race red Boss 90 miles away from me for 3G under sticker. I have only driven it 90 miles but those were awesome every one. TONS of thumbs up. The power is different than the 04, the torque isnt there that i was used to but this thing can rev!! The handling cant even be compared as well as the ride.5 days in I have no buyers remorse haha

EDIT: <<<<<<<<need to update that pic when weather is better

out of all the high horsepower cars that ive driven, the boss has by far been the most fun. If you really care about highway pulls or hauling ass to get on the on ramp then its not the car for you. If you love a greatly fine tuned suspension and turning car, that you can come out of the corner on and blast the rpms right away without fear of going sideways or losing traction then it is the car for you.

Its a great handling car with refined characteristics, but i cant stress enough, if it will bother you to be beat by alot of cars on the highway then dont get it, as its a completely different marketed car.

If your worried about power on the boss, do some bolt ons and it will definitely wake up, if that's not enough, put a blower on it and make as much power as you can use

Its been said over and over again, these are BALANCED cars period. I think that putting a blower on them would ruin it IMHO. The chassis tuning has so much development for 444 HP, that adding another 200-300, while not that hard to do ( just ask me, I have a D1SC Procharger sitting in my garage from my other Coyote), it would upset the entire dynamics of the car. Could it have more power? Of course, but when I had 696 rwhp in my GT500, I thought that car needed more HP too.

Point is, these cars are so well sorted out, that all you need to do is put in the Red key and go. You may miss the TQ of the Cobra at first, but trust me, after about a month you completely forget about it, and you won't miss the heat soak and overall inferior quality car. A lot has changed since 2003-04.

This is the first Mustang I've ever had that the mod bug wasn't itching constantly. Buy one, you'll love it.
