^^ Some people just don't know how to be wrong. It was a nice car - I never doubted it would bring good money (well, never as much as we have in them, but still).

I never said it wouldn't bring decent money, my point was for the people that claim you have to pay 20k+ to buy one, Mikec was selling his for 16k (for a super clean one) for a while and no one jumped on it. Yea people with no money will claim they are worth 20k+ but when it comes down to actually using your money it becomes a different story.

I wouldn't sell mine for $20k... I wouldn't sell it for $30k either but I don't expect someone to pay that much. My only point was thT you can't just recreate one of these for cheap. The material cost alone (if you don't use complete junk) is very high.

Another hacked together bucket. No PS, Manual, brakes, slug 96-8 motor. Should have kept the pushrod motor in it.

Im not usually one to jump in on these types of conversations BUT, im in the middle of doing this swap. Started out with my 92 notch Black on black ive had since high school. Paid 5k for the notch when bought it. I pcked up a donor car for DIRT CHEAP! Cheaper than any price listed on here. The guy just didnt know what he had. But granted ive been looking for that kinda deal for 2 years. But if you leave out the original price of my notch and add up my donor car, k member, front suspension, rear coilover, kb 2.8, input shaft, clutch, shifter, longtubes, catback, etc, etc, ill already be knocking on 15k. And 90% of those parts i bought used and got great deals on! I gutted the car and started wiring it and ive already had 2 people ask me if ill sell it when its done. the plan is to never sell it. unless someone made me a deal i couldnt refuse. But it would be alot of money. Ive been studying how people have done the swap for quite some time and im running into things i never even imagined. Nothing to terrible but unexpected stuf that the average guy that changes oil and spark plugs and thats it,cant overcome. Then add in the cost of tuning and stuff like that... its alot. id hate to see what it would cost to pay someone to do this for you. luckily i dont have to do that. sorry for the rant. Just my .02.

JDl1000, thanks for the help over on modfords. still waiting on those wiring manuals.

I am taking this car and putting a turbo 4v in it with all creature comforts...

04 cobra longblock
Mach 1 intake
Built 4r70w
On3 kit

No donor..purchased piece by piece.. Not as expensive as one may think but takes time to put it together unless you have DEEP pockets and have someone do it for you..

I think I will have about$3500- $4000 in my longblock when assembled.
$1500 in the shortblock with fresh bearings and rings.
$1100 in heads with upgraded
springs retainers.and valve job

Rest will be in assembling...so my figures will be slightly off.

Wiring is the biggest hurdle...

Keeping track of my build and cost on wsm and modfords..

After reading the complete post from start to end I do apologize for the lame post I did.And as for all the foxbody's with the swap...Some of you have some beautiful cars and I amend you! But on the flip side, for the guy who has good credit and goes to the bank to get a loan,I hate to say it but the bank won't loan you 15,000 on any foxbody out there no matter how much money you drop in it.The 03 cobra on the other hand, the bank will give you a check in a heart beat.So if your looking to buy a turn key fox with a cobra motor in it.You better have minimum 15,000 lying around or else just go buy a cobra.

(noshavoc) People who buy custom cars rarely look to a bank for a loan to buy one. They usually have spendable capital. So yes there's no blue book value on any of these cars hence the reason most banks will not loan money on custom cars. For the most part there's no blue book value on any custom car.

It really makes no difference if you could have bought an 03 Cobra for less than a custom built car if the custom car is what you want. Someone that is looking for one of these fox conversions probably isn't looking for a stock 03 cobra or a bank loan. Someone wants custom work they have to pay for it. Or they have to try to build it on their own. I didn't get a bank loan to build my car. I paid cash for the whole project. For what it cost me to build my car I could have bought two 03 Cobra's in todays market. So there are plenty of people out there with the spendable cash to buy.

Well I have like 15,000 in my build and my car still looks like this...

Most of the parts are in my garage or in my spare room.
Most people just slap on the motor and supporting hardware and I'm doing a complete restoration.
