I enjoy educating people who care, and ignoring people who don't. Recently I parking lot educated a new Camaro owner who commented on the nice exhaust note and asked, "That's a V8 right?"

Some people just aren't up to speed on all things Mustang. I didn't fully understand till I test drove mine.

I have never heard "it's just a mustang" when people have referred to my car. Instead, I hear "that convertible over there." There is a difference though otherwise it would read "mustang" on every parts with the "cobra" name and badge.

(I do call it just a mustang to my brother when referring to his just to piss him off :p )

anything in this world is "Its just a (x)" unless someone cares about it.... fine someone they love that you dont care about and tell them to put it out in the weather for a week....

I agree. A few weeks back there was a car show thing that happens on fridays in another town about 15 miles from where I live. I had the only "cobra" there, and a young kid maybe 11-12yrs old was talking cars with a friend and he said, "Well you can have that, I'll take the cobra!". It put a smile on my face though, because he knew what it was, not just another ol mustang.

I can appreciate when someone knows the difference between a Cobra and a Mustang, but I'm not gonna get all butthurt if someone wants to talk shit. I know what I've got and I know how hard I worked to get it. Like the song goes, "Real gangsta ass niggas don't flex nuts cus real gangsta ass niggas know they got 'em"

Cobra, Mustang, "Termi", That blood red thing over "there", They can call it whatever they want but I let the car speak for its self. Not everybody in the world is a die hard car enthusiast like we are. I'm sorry but its true. Everybody has passions and hobby's. This is ours. I don't even have to mention what it is and I have people compliment my car all the time.

For real? Guys it's just a mustang and nothing more! It got a few extra goodies and that's it!!! At the end of the day it's a "mustang". It's the cobra owners that get all bent when someone calls it "just a mustang" that need to grow up. Who cares what someone else thinks, this is the real world not high school!!

I have to laugh at all of the Cobra owners who are jumping on the "it's just a Mustang" bandwagon just for the sake of being argumentative!:rollseyes If you really felt that way then why bother spending the extra dough for a "Cobra", why not just a regular Mustang v6, GT, etc? Clearly there was something a bit special about it, or you wouldn't be on this site, have bought the car, etc., so get off you high horses trying to bust this guy's balls! Maybe your "regular Mustangs" are nothing special to you anymore, but mine sure as hell is, and I won't park mine in a damn airport parking lot, or most any other parking lot for that matter! Why? Not just because it is special to ME, but there are too many careless douchebags these days who will just swing their f***ing doors open against the side of a car that belongs to someone else (whether it is a special car, or not - it is somebody else's property that they worked hard to get). I am not afraid to admit that I understand where the op is coming from.

How does everyone react when they get the "Its just a Mustang" comment? When I first hear this I :dw: followed by :nonono:.

A coworker didn't understand why I did not want to leave it in long term airport parking while gone on a business trip. I didn't want to leave it out in the weather, or open to theft/vandalism. I got the "why its just a Mustang" comment after voicing my concerns.

No one has ever told me ""it's just a Mustang" but that might be because of the way I conduct myself when talking about the car.

Always under sell and over deliver.

Obviously this is a fellow employee who has not yet gotten a ride in "just a Mustang".
Quite often one employee getting one ride will be all it takes to enlighten the rest within a short period of time, assuming it is not a huge place.:p

similar story only Corvette and Ferrari

I show up at a local car show with this beautiful all original silver low mileage 308gtb Ferrari. When i pull up to register the woman says "pretty car, too bad it isn't a Corvette"! Apparently the show was sponsored by the local vette club. I just shook my head and pulled away. Later sold the car to a guy in Florida who emails me that the car was written up in a Ferrari digest or something as being "quite possibly the nicest Ferrari 308gtb left in the country". Some people put their mouth in gear before thinking.

Well it is just a Mustang. But I always welcome folks to show me how explosive and awesome sounding their car sounds compared to mine. They can have their seat warmers and navigation devices and limitless gadgets. I'll take raw power and brute force and a frightening roar from my "its just a Mustang" any day over most cars.

I've owned an 85 F-150, 03 Lightning, and 10 Raptor and guess what at the end of the day they are still just F-150s.
