Then why doesnt MY car have any issues with the trans?

That's a great question. If you rule out everything but the transmission, there are a number of possibilities. One thing that we know is that in most of the cases where the transmission has been rebuilt:

1. Pilot bearings were trashed
2. Synchronizers were trashed
3. Gear teeth were missing
4. Shift forks were bent

Now... we can only assume 2-4 were also the case in cars with replacement transmissions.

Now... add to that... NOBODY has posted yet that a transmission rebuild or replacement was a permanent fix... the issues returned.

One possibility that has been discussed is that there may be a motor/transmission alignment issue. This would explain why both the factory in China (if it's on the transmission side) AND Flat Rock (on the motor side) haven't identified any issues. BUT bolt the motor and transmission together... and drive a few thousand miles... BAM. Misalignment would also explain the trashed pilot bearings and bent shift forks... etc.

This would ALSO explain why some of these are train wrecks and others are flawless.

Again, this is all guess-work and we'll have to wait and see what the NHTSA and Ford come up with.

How exactly does the skip shift work in our cars?

The engine has to be at operating temp, and then... if you take off gradually in 1st gear and hover around between 2500-3000 RPM, the solenoid energizes.... 2 and 3 are locked out... and you get a message on the dash that says "SHIFT 1>4 FOR ECONOMY"

Go over 3000rpm, no skip shift.

ShadowStang has been spreading this nonsense all over every mustang forum for months. He can't handle hearing the truth about these problems and is on a campaign to discredit people reporting problems with their cars. This is nothing compared to the hate he spews on other forums.

Go ahead moderators... look me up... check my IP.

Between the NHTSA, the ABC Story, and now this "screen-name-gate" he's what, 0-3?

Here's a thought: why not start your OWN thread instead of trolling these. We're upset enough about our car problems. We don't need folks like you making it worse.

Where is the ABC story? where is your vin? so i can post up the history of the abuse void on the warrenty.

 And the IQ drops even more... so embarrassing

There is no "Abuse Void" on my warranty. Even Ford Customer Care confirmed that at AFM PUBLICLY.

Now you're 0-4

Care to drop your IQ even further?

Why be such a hater???

If I was stupid I would offer you mine, as I haven't done a thing to my drivetrain, but I'm not.

listen, i have no problem with anyone that has a legit problem. Im sick of people acting like they are an engineer. Dealers in my area have had zero issues with these cars. Even early built ones. My problem is with Jmatero and people like him. Posting on every single forum. Not having one clue what they are talking about. No hard facts. 20 people on svt say they have a problem? Its just BS. jmatero probably has no job and couldnt check his oil.

You do realize that you are just clogging up threads with even more BS than was originally there, if you in fact consider his posts just that.

I on the other hand, and thankful for him. Does that hurt to hear? I have my THIRD tranny on it's way.... its not just him and people like you need to get a life more than you think he does.

You are seriously making yourself look like a baby. Grow up.

Pal, I have a MSME from the Fu Foundation at Columbia. You're kidding right?

0-6 buddy.

Keep them coming. I've been polite and have ignored trolls like you for a LONG time. No more.

I learned my lesson about buying the first year... ecspecially US models... yikes... Although, they are getting better, there are ALWAYS glitches... ALWAYS. I think one of the reasons the Escape is having so many "growing pains" is because it is a TOTALLY new (ground up) vehicle. It really doesn't share any parts with other cars now in production and the ones it does "borrow" have been so heavily modified that they could be considered "new". The Aztek has a great track record so-far and seems to be particularly tight for a first-year model. The main reason for this is that it is not really "new"... it's platform has been in use for a number of years and from a drivetrain-suspension-underbody standpoint, should have most-if not all-its bugs worked out by now. I know the drivetrain is almost bullet proof (although not very exciting... drop in that 3800 and wow!)

Well, it still is very hard to get the car into gear... 1st still being problematic... worst when cold... or when the car is creeping forward and then moving into 1st. I love the car but the 5-speed has some issues... it revs like hell between shifting gears sometimes so you actually have to pause before depressing clutch... just really hard to go from 1st to 5th smoothly without an issue of some kind as most others her have reported. I've owned sticks my whole life... some BAD.. but you get used to them. I still can't seem to get a grip on this one... 1 and 2 are the real trouble

kinda funny

In 2001 I believed I would NEVER buy an American car again as their reputation at the time was terrible.

Fast forward 10 years and things supposedly improved to the point where I bought my Mustang.

You're 0-8 Please please please stop making a fool of yourself! LOL

In 2003 I bought one of the first Saturn Vues with a manual transmission. Within a week I was stranded on the side of the road after posting that. Turns out GM recalled them all because a plastic clip on the cable shift adjuster was cracking. They gave me a new car to drive while engineering worked it out and then came up with a new metal clip. Problem solved.

0-9... tired yet?

You're clearly obsessed with me.

Here's the link to Allentown Mental Health's Mental Disorders Center... maybe they can help? You're not looking well.
