So people hate on the guy for being successful? Right place, right time luck, intelligence, family connections, determination. Maybe a combination of any of those. Whatever gets you there, gets you there. Its up to you to keep it going. I consider myself to be successful.
I started a small remodeling business three years ago and for the most part make my own schedule and take what jobs i want to have now vs. what someone else told me i had to do to make them money. Now mind you i have no off shore accounts or even a "red" Ferrari in my garage, but im happy.
Ben obviously is a smart guy and has gotten to where he is for that reason. I think the guy is pretty cool for wanting to show his collection off to us.

Not sure which I hate more, Google or Facebook. Kudos to Ben, though, for his success.

Hate Google. Every time I had a question as a child, I had to look it up in a outdated dictionary or encyclopedia. Now, thanks to the wonders of Google I can just google it. Any fact, video or porn fetish is just a Google search away. Boy you people are hard to please.

Impressive car collection. Major props to both of them for what they have accomplished.

How are you going to make a thread about Ben and not tag him? @treynor any word on the second go around with the FGT application?

I assume the article is somewhat misleading as they used auction/second hand prices to come up with some of the figures.

The cool thing about Ben is the fact that he is a true car enthusiast who happens to have enough money to indulge his passion and not someone who simply buys things automotive as a status symbol.

Many of us here celebrate Ben's success. Why not?

I don't care how much, or how little a person has. A good person with a good personality is just that. Ben seems to be a genuine person.

That was an 'interesting' article. THR originally asked just to do an interview because both me and Christine are racing enthusiasts; I didn't know it was going to be take the "look how much all this guy's cars and houses are worth!!!!!" angle until I read the article. That wasn't the angle I would have taken.

At any rate, if one reads carefully, the article does illustrate why cars can be good investments and thus not a totally irrational use of money.

I'm waiting semi-patiently. Ford has said they'll release their list of select-ees by mid-February.

> Does he even lift?

I'm a physically ~average 50-year-old with a sedentary job. If I spent all my time adding and subtracting potential energy from clumps of ferrous metals, I wouldn't be nearly as good at the things which I have genuine talent for...

Ben is a genuine guy, he offered to let me borrow his stilo helmet for a track day at Laguna seca. I ended up using my shoei modular helmet.

I think this site and a few other forums are lucky to have an enthusiast that shares the passion for cars as some of us do. If any one of us had the wealth and passion for cars we would be doing the same damn thing.
