Yearly cost for tag registration

How much do you pay yearly to register your car and keep the tag current. Please state your state.

Here in Bama, I pay $450 for a vanity tag. What a rip.

$450.? Yikes! Is that a one-time charge? I paid about $125. for mine up here in Connecticut. I believe the renewal is around $50. I don't have the car with me so I'm not sure when it has to be renewed. I think mine is good for three years.

In Illinois it's $78 / year and $91 / year for vanity plates.

I think he means tag+ad valorem tax

mine is $453 for both and an extra $25 for a vanity plate

Correct. Tag plus any associated taxes charged by your state on a yearly basis.

just got my yearly renewal $285, and that's with the 1/2 price reduction due to our state lottery. they started taking the money and using it towards plate renewals.

Only $100 here which includes Registration and inspection for the year. One of the few good things about Texas I guess. $60 for reg tag and $40 for inspection tag

My excise tax is 690 bucks/year (goes down as the car gets older, my registration is 75/ every 2 years and my vanity plate is another 50/year.

In Idaho, it is $48 a year for registration and $15 for the personalized plate.

in Colorado mine were over $ 500.00, mostly ownership tax, which is based on value.

I'm in Michigan and I pay about $130 a year...no emissions, no inspections...and that's with vanity plates.

I paid $507, Colo. Spgs., CO, for 2004. When I bought the car in Aug. of '02 the tags were over $750.


I'd hate to think what someone with a Z-06, BMW-M3 or worse yet a Viper would pay in Colorado....crazy!

when i picked up my Cobra in 2002, their was a new Austin Martin(sp?) that the plates were $24,000.

The first year's tag fee was rolled into the car price (about $400). But now that we have the other Terminator as governor of Caleeforneea its going down to about $130.
