I'm still thinking about going the FI route. Just not sure which set up I want. I think a roots style is the way to go but they are pricey if you want to do it right. Of course, the same can be said about every set up. I'm really looking hard at the beefcake kit or pro-charged and just calling it a day. I think the centi set up would be a little eaiser on parts per say. As of right now, I have the suspension covered. I also bought new wheels/tires but went for looks and it hurt performance. I'm just tired of how slow this car is out of the box. I still need to make it up in your direction to go for a spin in your car. I bet after I do, I'll be on the phone to VMP lol.

Tony

You should come and drive it man. Seriously, come up for one of the pavilion nights (every Saturday night starting around 4 PM) and I'll take you for a ride.

What suspension and wheel/tire combination are you running? You really need to come and drive mine before you start doing anything. I'm extremely particular about my car...

IMO -- you will be at the same cost to get to my power level with a D1SC as a Whipple. Whipple makes more torque, D1SC will make a lot more horsepower. Pick your poison :) D1SC will be easier to cool and likely won't require as much dollar spend on cooling parts to keep your shit cool in the summers -- but then again, I don't think it's as hot up where you're at so it may not matter. Expect to keep it under 10 PSI or you'll need race gas.

Wheels and tires are the most important part of the Boss 302 -- kinda sucks you made that mistake :( Not all is lost though -- you may be able to get a wheel shop to widen them for you so you can run wider tires :) But they may be heavier than expected.

Also, get some stainless lines, better pads, exhaust, and a tune. Huge difference. Probably at least 50-60 rwhp, and a much better pedal feel at the same time.

If it wasn't sooo damn hot out there in your neck of the woods, I'd make the drive this weekend lol. It's close to 15 degrees+ cooler where I'm at lol. Then again, it's time for my monthly trip to the Wild Horse Casino lol.

As far as my set up goes, its as follows:
Suspension:
Strage single Adj. struts, Viking doubble Adj. shocks, BMR lowering springs, GT 500 top mounts, BMR LCA's, BMR LCA Relocation Brac's., BMR Adj. Pan hard rod, BMR Upper control are mount (not installed yet, been lazy lol).

Performance:
JLT CAI with VMP tune and cat delete pipes, Barton two post short throw shifter.

Wheels/tires:
Forgestar F14 Wheels (Piano black) 20 X 9 front/20 X 11 rear.
Nitto NT05 tires (255 35 20 front/305 30 20 rear)

There's a '13 GHIG one at Tuttle Click Irvine. Looks clean but listed at $47k. I'm sure there's some room to negotiate at that price. Any luck at the Mitsubishi dealer?

For me 95% of the trans issues stopped when I moved my seat closer to the pedals. IMO you need to use the whole travel of the clutch for high rpm shifts... With that said there is that other 5% that locks me out. But it is way better with the seat closer! I'm sitting closer than any car I've owned, but IMO it's worth it.

I'll have to give this a shot -- never thought about that before.

Yep, damn warm here. Not as bad this week though.. only has been hitting 95-98.

You can fit a 275/35ZR20 up front. Why the 255 choice? Is that why you don't like the tire setup? I'm going for as wide as a tire as I can on front and rear, which for me will be a 295 up front and 325 out back. Retains the 30 difference between front/rear that factory had... we'll see how I like the Proxes. If I don't like them I'll probably end up selling the wheel/tire setup and running 18x10.50's on 315's front/rear.

I'm not very familiar yet with dampeners. I'll probably get a set of coil overs per Cortex's recommendation.

Yeah I went and checked out both of the Bosses at the Mitsubishi dealer. I green one was nice, but just too many miles for me and the red one was too, but there were a couple scratches on it that I didn't like and they also got it from a repo auction which kind of made me unsure of it. There's a nice one I found in Arizona that I found on craigslist. It's a 2013 gotta have it Green, 3600 miles and he's asking 39K. Gunna try to make time to go out and see it next week

The dampers came recomended by Kelly at BMR. I explained that I wanted a set up that I could do street, strip, auto/road racing. They are pretty nice. With a few simple clicks, I can have a car that transfers the weight where I need for strip, nice and stiff when I want the car to feel like it's on rails or plush when I want to go on a long drive and not feel most of the bad road conditions. Like I said, I'm happy with the suspension set up for the money. I'm sure there are better set ups but that will come at a premium.

I don't mind the tires. They seem to do well in most situations (street use so far). To be honest, I don't know much about tires for these cars. Plus, I copied "IamRacerX's" set up lol. I love the looks of his car so I wanted to get the same look. Next time around, I will go with 275's up front and the widest tires I can fit out back. To be completly honest, I love the looks of the stock wheels. I just wish they were 20's and were wider lol. Puting 19's/narrow wheels on any new mustangs from the factory should be a crime lol. They just don't fill up the fenders even when lowered, at least in the rear. My car is pretty low and looks/handling wise, I'm very happy. Overall, I love this car and it's really fun to drive. However, performance wise, I'm not happy with it even in the slightest degree. This is by far the slowest car I've ever owned to date. That being said, I'm either going to put money into it to making it faster or trade it in on another model. I hate to admit but IMO, the C6 Z is one of the best "starting" platforms out there for over all performance/handling. However, that's apples to oranges and they should not even be compared. As soon as I got over the fact that my car will never be like any of my previous Vettes/cars, I began to really enjoy this car for what it is. To be completly honest, if this car had 600rwhp, it would be a blast to drive everyday.

I just don't know where to start. I'm inpatience to say the least lol. I've tossed around the idea of going N/A with cams and full exhaust but I'm not sure if that's the "smart" move. My issues with that is resale and/or trading the car in when the time comes. I'm sure the best bang for the buck for over all power and driveability would be forced induction. I just don't know if I'm ready to pay for everything that comes along with that. I.e broken parts and or waiting for the car to be fixed lol. I've also thought about going with a GT 500. Those cars seem to be pretty stout and made for boost. I'm not aware of them having issues (motor/drivetrain wise) handling power. So for now, who knows lol.

I was told that a better shifter would fix that problem of the 1-2 grind. However, it didn't for me. I sit really close and I don't think I could get any closer lol. With me, it's a matter of trying to shift faster than the car will allow (hard to explain) but I'm sure you know what I mean. With my other cars, I could shift as fast as I wanted to without issues. With this car, I've found on the 1-2 shift, you have to "make love to it" lol. You have shift nice and slow lol. Other than the 1-2 shift, I don't have any issues. I will say that the clutch pedal gets stiffer after going in the upper rpm range from 1st-3rd and so on. I'm sure fluid flow plays a major issue with that. I pulled the return spring that helped the pedal return quicker but it's always an issue if I try to shift too quickly.

A centi style supercharger (Procharger, Paxton, etc) at 7-8 lbs of boost will make 550-575 rwhp on a conservative tune. And your motor/clutch/trans should have minimal, if any, issues supporting that.

The more I keep reading about centi style blowers, the more I want one lol. It's going to come down to how much I want to spend to get the power I'm after.

Honestly with reading what you're saying I think you would be better off in a GT500. The Boss isn't a slow car -- it's just not designed for light to light and I think that's what you want. And of course, it was only $45k. I think you're asking too much from it. If you just want a car that's fast light to light, you're still cheaper just throwing a hair dryer on it and calling it a day. It'll be as fast as a GT-500, and you won't lose your handling.

FYI -- A Mustang isn't a real sports car (IMO), so I wouldn't try to compare it with a corvette. I agree with what you said on the Z06 platform. I just have no interest in corvettes for whatever reason, even if they're faster (and they are because they put power down so much better).

And FWIW -- I agree with you about the Boss wheels -- I love the style, but wish they were wider. I actually took them to a few different shops and called around in effort to get someone who could widen the wheels -- going as far as even setting up to purchase another set of OEM wheels (I saved all OEM parts when I took them off). But -- apparently, so I'm told -- it's not possible to widen those OEM wheels, so I gave up and ordered my Forgestar's. I'll keep the stock wheels of course -- I even went as far as buying new sensors for my Forgestars -- though they haven't arrived yet.

The more I keep reading about centi style blowers, the more I want one lol. It's going to come down to how much I want to spend to get the power I'm after.

You'll spend less money doing that than what you'll spend to get a GT-500. Keep that in mind. For $6,000 you can probably have 550 rwhp. But it will NEVER put power down like a corvette. You've owned them both. You know what I'm talking about :)

If you're never going to auto-x/road race, and pretty much are just going to race in a straight line, and are seeking well beyond 600 rwhp -- the GT-500 is likely a better option than adding a blower from a cost stand point -- as you will spend extra money on the Boss that you wouldn't have to spend on the GT-500 (though, perhaps minimally). I'm assuming you're buying one used, by the way. For me, I just have no desire to add more than 600 rwhp. It isn't usable......(and really, nor is 550 on a Mustang). In fact, the only reason the GT-500 is able to keep the power under control is the REALLY long gearing, added weight, and the transmission setup. As soon as you take that combination out and put in the MT-82 and 3.73's, all that usable power just became unusable again.

I'm personally just attached to the Mustang brand. I realize there are far better platforms. I've owned GT-R's, M3's, and 911's, and I always end up back in a Mustang. I just enjoy it. Even if I end up with something different, I think I'll always have a Mustang in my garage on top of whatever else I'm enjoying at the time. I don't really do any street racing anyway, so it's not like the other platforms are really going to give me that much more joy from the driving experience than the Mustang anyway.

I agree 100%. I think part of the "slow-ness" problem I'm experiencing is due to driving my Boss all the time. I picked up a daily driver (truck for my dirt bikes) so I haven't been the Boss for about two weeks. Jumped in the Boss yesterday and it felt pretty good even in this heat lol.

The SBY I drove in San Jose was sent to their Huntington Beach Ford store. BTW my head is spinning from all the talk of 600 hp Bosses and such. I am an old fart so basically a wimp insofar as my preferences go. I like natural aspiration and the Boss 302 history from the days of Follmer, Parnelli, Bud Moore and the original Trans Am. Not the Pontiac, the race series. Anyway I still think this one at HB Ford is great and they are asking $43K cuz they gave too much on the trade up here in NorCal. It has been offered for a while so grind the hell outta them! If you like "hair dryers" buy my '04 Terminator convertible and I will get the Boss!! And I totally forgot who if anyone is looking for a Boss in southern California. Recall I am older than dirt so I don't even remember what the hell I ate for breakfast today. Especially pathetic since they serve us the same damn thing everyday here at the Old Mustang Enthusiast Nursing Home.

No problem at all. I hope you find one. They are great cars for what they are. To be honest, PW wasn't my first chioce but after some window tint, lowered stance and a new set of wheels, I couldn't be happier with the color! I think the white with all of the black accents the car has really makes the car pop. If I knew how to post pics, I'd upload a few so you can see what I mean but my CPU at work is giving me issues lol.
