Hey guys. No flames intended, but Mineral03 is correct. The stock rims are 9". I happen to have a spare rim (another story) and I measured it, also. It is 9". (Remember, you measure the width of the rim at the inside of the rim where the bead of the tire will be. Not on the outside of the rim.) Seems 315/35's would not be a good fit.

I saw some 315's on a 9'' rim. It fit, but the tire did hang out out over the rim alittle bit. It wasn't a problem but 295's look like they fit much better.

Are those spacers a reasonable option for gettin the tire to come out just a little. Or does it make the tire stick way the heck out. ??

I was wondering about that too, I like the look of the tire sticking out alittle but does it help the performance enough so its worth doing? The spacers are only like 40 bucks I think

I can't imagine them helping the performance too much but I think it would look real good. In my opinion the front looks good but the back is sucked into the wheelwell.

40 bucks isnt too bad

Well I feel stupid now. I thought I saw some that were 40, maybe it was on the KennyBrown site. I just looked at them real quick so maybe I saw 149 and thought it was just 49.00.

The quarter inch spacers where $49. I dont think they would be enough but I guess I'll have to measure after I finally take delivery. The 1/4 inch spacer doesn't sound like a really safe option in my opinion since it takes away from the threads that are actually being used by the lug nuts.

thats my exact thoughts 03rocks, would it be safe with the space pushing the rear tire out, would it hurt performance any?

Spacers will put more leverage on your spindles. They will also change other alignment angles. I wouldn't recomend them. Just my .02 cents:beer:

The factory wheels if you actually go measure them are about 10 inches or 10and a 1/2.
My window sticker says they are 9" but they arent.
I ordered 2 BFG Comp T/A Drag Radials for mine size..
315/35-17 where as the factory tires are 275/40-17
Theres only a couple thousandths difference in diameter between the tires yet im getting almost an inch and 1/2 wider footprint.

Heh.. hey sn8kbite, please do post us pictures for christs sake of those 315/35-17 tires on your factory 9" wide wheels ok, I'm sure it'll look great.

Are you talkin about just the front spindles or the rearend as well. i sure don't want to put those things on if they are going to mess up my rig.

snakebitten-----I havn't checked around too much but I would think someone has 295 DR's. I just went to the Nitto website, they have 295's but there not DR's. Maybe some of this info will help you guys out. These are some of the sizes from nitto that would be good for the cobra---
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Nitto 555 ZR rated sizes and suggested rim size (from nitto):
285/40/17 --- 9-11'' rim
285/35/18 --- 9.5-11'' rim
295/45/18 --- 9.5-11'' rim

Nitto 555R (the drag radial) sizes and suggested rim size:
275/40/17 --- 9,9.5,-11'' rim
305/45/18 --- 9.5-11.5'' rim
315/35/17 --- 10.5-12'' rim
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

I agree that 315's can fit on a 9'' rim, but they do stick out over the rim a bit. If you going with a ZR rated tire and stock rim, the 285/40/17 would be a great fit. With the DR, the 275/40/17 would fit easily of coarse, and you can always squeeze the 315/35/17 on there too. Hope that helped.

I'd sure like to see a pic of the 305's on x 9's.

The '03 I test drove the other day seemed to have a major traction issue :) A good set of meats should fix that.
