I am gonna buy a 2…3 whipple and the best price I found was $3200.00 shipped from Tousley. Does anyone know of a better price? Thanks

That is the best price on a new 2.3l. But for a few hundred more u can get the 2.9l

Don't listen to poster above. He does not know his ass from a hole in the ground.

They cost $3002. So they are selling and shipping for a $198 profit. Everyone else is asking $3400-3600 for that same blower.

The car is a weekend cruiser only and it will only see street use. I was gonna shoot for 580-600 rwp. Should I get the 2.9?

2.3L is fine. Tousley is usually the cheapest price on the 2.3L and great service. IF you are going bigger I would go with the Liquid cooled 2.8L for sure and mammoth if you can afford it. Better IAT2s. Beast of a blower. For what you want though the 2.3L will be great.

U will be in the 580-630 HP range with 19-21 psi of boost with the 2.3l. I personally would get a 2.9l as you will have room to grow.

Haven't some 2.9s been putting down 630rwhp+ on 18-19psi 93 pump?

Yes learn to read listen and ask question. Slamming a vendor is against the rules of the forum also...

The man is looking to make 550-600 HP. The 2.3l will be just fine for him.

Get off your Kenne bell nut hug. Whipple is a good blower also.

I've been contemplating the exact same thing as the op. So here's my thinking. to you twin screw guys, please correct me if I'm worng or overlooking anything.: The 2.3 and 2.9 are going to make similar power at 19-20 psi but the 2.9 will provide that boost with less heat. This is of course assuming the same fuel mods are made.

2nd question: I'm in AZ and stuck with 91 octane fuel. So would it be worth the extra money for the 2.9 knowing that I probably couldn't use it's full potential anyway?

The 2.9L will produce the same power as a 2.3L at lower boost levels. The lower the boost the less the heat.

A 2.9L is nice because it's still considered a street blower you can make good power with room to grow. The 2.9L will make more power than a 2.3L.

91 octane is fine. It's all in your tune.

I ran 21 psi of boost and 21 degrees of timing on 93 and was still plenty safe on m a/f.

The 2.8L has made 800+rwhp many many many many times. Makes the 2.9L and 675 sound puny. The 2.9L needs a bigger inlet to come close to those numbers.

Why are we even debating a 2.8lc when the man is asking about a 2.3 Whipple? He is not looking to make 750-1000 HP. If so than we would be talking 3.4 or 4.0 Whipple or a 2.8 or perhaps a turbo.

Let's stay on topic. The man is not looking for a street race car. Just a fun daily driver.

I have a 2.3 Whipple, and also run on crappy 91 octane pump gas. My car is making 595 rwhp, 551 tq. So, yes... a 2.3 will get to your goal easily, and safely.

the 2.3 whipple will work just fine. If 580-600 to the wheel isn't adequate for a pump gas street driver, toss in the E85 and go for 700rw+. The 2.3 is more than capable

the 2.9 is still pretty new so there are not that many out there yet. the 2.8kb is nothing with out the mammoth inlet as kb normal inlets are more restrictive that Whipple. For the price i feel whipple is better, that is why i went with them.

Are you speaking for the OP now? I think the reason everyone is recommending the 2.9 is because of the marginal price difference and the fact that like most on here, starting with 600 is fine until you get used to it. The "room to grow" argument is valid and he should appreciate everyone offering the suggestions and insights.

I plan to do the mammoth KB or TT, so my input/research is not wanted here I guess...

Josh, I thought you had a for sale thread. Change of heart? lol.

It was only to see if I could get a local guys GT500

I was not going to cry if my 32k mile silver vert didn't sell

Plans are all suspension related first, full 3 link setup in the rear installed then MM k-member and coilovers up front. No point in having the power if you can't put it to the ground! :burnout:
