I want long tubes, but cannot justify the cost of names like kooks, SW, or ARH's, eventhough I don't doubt the quality of them....

Please post your vote, reason why if you feel the need (as in your experience with the brand), or any other info

Also, is the intentional dent in the BBK LT's really needed to clear the steering shaft?

I'd like to see what everyone says as well, personally I've heard MAC is better

I've read/heard the same, but lots do run the BBK as well....

My concern is the quality as well as the fitment (the fact that the BBKs have the intentional dent to clear the steering shaft, as if it's needed)...

I've also read that the MACs sit up higher/aren't as long, so there is less of a chance of scrapping...

I just installed MAC a few weeks ago .. here are my thoughts...

Pros
Cheap - $700 for both ceramic coated headers + lethal o/r x

Clearance - I have more clearance now with the setup above vs my previous of stock manifolds with catted magnaflow x .. clearance with MAC + o/r x is great! .. the MACs do tuck up nicely

Fitment - they bolted on nicely .. absolutely no modification to the body or headers themselves .. they do not rub or touch anything they aren't suppose to .. fitment is A+

Sound - the combo above with stingers = sex

Cons
Quality - the ceramic coated MACs will not last as long as say Kooks stainless steel .. that's the only thing bad I could say .. and not being a DD nor ever seeing weather like rain .. I'm not the least bit worried

On an different note.. I picked up not only sound but power

After a retune to dial everything back in .. I gained +15rwhp and +12rwtq .. and lost 1lb of boost

Thanks for the input. So no clearance issue with the steering shaft?

My plan is: MAC LT's, MAC offroad H, and the stainless Flowmaster catback system, with MRT polished stainless steel rolled 3.5" angle cut tips

Sounds like a good setup. I personally wouldn't run it because it'll sound like every other mustang with flows... just a bit deeper. I had a 98 gt with lt's, o/r prochamber and flow super 40's. Sounded exactly like my buddies mach with just a catback. BUT, to each their own.

Yes, it will sound like any other Mustang with Flows on some level, but in my experience, the majority of Mustangs (Termis, Machs, 05 and up Gts/5.0s, GT500s, etc.) run the raspy X pipes.... so I put my setup in the minority. I really only see Foxes running H pipes these days, but even then, they are far and few in between....most run the X because it produces "more" HP/TQ. The "more" part is very subjective IMO, and I'd rather have the sound I want vs. the +5 HP/TQ an X produces.....

Totally agree with you. H pipe is the minority now. Personally I'd rather have old muscle sound than something that sounds raspy.

Do you guys know if those macs will fit an auto swap?

I would think they do as the same part number that's used for the 03-04 cobra is used for the 03-04 Mach-1 and that includes the Mach-1 auto.

Let us know if you have any other questions.

Thanks,
Jared

I have the Macs with o/r x and a magnaflow catback and it sounds incredible. Tame at idle, I can leave a light next to a cop and not get a second look, but if i get into it, people in the next zip code know it

I would go with Mac. Ive installed Mac headers, kooks, bbk and flowtechs. The kooks are great but expensive. I run the Mac headers on my car and fitment was pretty close to the kooks. BBKs fitment isnt bad but Macs fit better and with the bbks you have to remove the passenger side header to remove the transmission (non t56 cars) as for flowtech headers they are garbage and you couldn't give me a set for free.

Pacesetter!

Coated headers and X-pipe for ~ $550 shipped! Cant beat that for made in USA stuff. I have a set on order. I will let you know how they work.

I have had them on a LT1 F-body and they were great.

I ran the Mac's with lethal x pipe and magnapack catback. The only reason why I went with kooks is because Mac's only come in 1 5/8's other wise I would have purchased another set. Fitment is great.

We're still only selling what we would put on our own cars and from friends over the years loving Mac Headers we just got set up with them this week. So I say Mac.
