What piece of Mod Motor history is this?

Came across this add for a "unique prototype 4.6L DOHC motor for sale. The craigslist add had been taken down already, but it's still generating a lot of questions for what it could have been. Is this possibly a prototype A-Head engine that I've only heard but never seen? Or maybe a marine application?

Curiosity is just getting the best of me. I love learning everything I can about these motors.

It was a prototype gt40 engine. The intake manifold is mounted backwards, so was used to mount either in a rear-engine setup or transverse, which is why they used it in the Lincoln's fwd setups.

I love how neat stuff like this shows up in Road Side Pub. Neat and interesting find.

I'd buy it just to keep in my garage as a conversation piece. looks like a marine application due to the lack of a water pump, probably an external unit.

I just find it odd with the amount of mod motor gurus I know around the internet not one person has been able to come up with a legitimate source as to what it could be
