I also followed this thread from the beginning. It sure have been aload of work, just imagine to try to get every bolt and nut for that shell! I never thought you'd pull it off when you posted the first pictures. Awesome job!
Yesterday I took the Cobra on a trip to Orlando and back.
Trip was 409 miles.
I was careful of fuel usage, wanting to see what the car with 400+ HP
and near 400 lb/ft torque NA could actually do MPG-wise.
I was able to make it both ways on 1 tank of fuel.
15.4 gallons. That is 26.56 MPG.
And to think I was happy getting 22 earlier.
Al P told me it would get better,
and that he was getting 25 with his years ago @ 400 HP.
Seems he was right.
Twenty years ago I had a low mileage bone stock 1966 GT Mustang with "Hipo" 289. It made half the horsepower yours does, it weighed less than 2700 pounds and still got less than 20 mpg. Getting 26+mpg with a 475 (flywheel) horsepower, 330 cubic inch engine would have seemed like a magic trick back then and is amazing even by todays standards.
