This was the boat. Was fun except when it came time to re fuel. $1,500 per fill up.

Answer: Whichever car brings you a sense of contentment.

There is always a faster car
There is always a cleaner car
There is always a more expensive car

But the one that makes you happy is the one that says "I made it."

It’s hard to tell if someone has “made it” based on what they drive, unless it’s a high end exotic or Rolls. I live in an area where there are a lot of pretentious people who like to make it look like they have money. So a Range Rover or S Class doesn’t exactly tell me that. You don’t know the debt some people get themselves into for that kind of lifestyle.
The Millionaire next door is someone more likely to drive a normal vehicle.

No such thing.

Whether or not you've "made it" is determined by you, internally.

I see that quote a lot, I don’t know anyone who really loves the water that would agree with it.

In my experience (family had multiple boats). You lose your ass reselling it, maintaining it and just generally running it. We made money off using them and enjoyed them recreationally. Now the ones getting the 20yr note on the 20k boat are the ones that really bitch about boat ownership.

I think you can have several "I made it cars" throughout your lifetime, it's all about timing though rather than the car.

When you're in high school and you get your first shit box it's one of the best days of your life. It may not be much but to you it represents a new found freedom.

When you get your first new car is another moment.

Getting that weekend toy or a project car to wrench on is also a great feeling.

Older folks who finally get that tour bus sized RV that they have no business driving is certainly an "I made it car" for them.
