A woman cut my hair for 30+ years, was the only person to cut our kids hair (they are 19 and 23). Was $20 all in. She was my age (50's), day after X-mas sought medical attention, she passed on Jan 30th, sadly she must have ignored some warning signs. Been going to a place in Florida since her passing, $50 all in.

I used to pay 25 bucks a haircut, that was including tip before the scamdemic.
Ever since early 2020,.......I've been cutting my own hair. Bought a nice Wahl trimmer/shaver and a smaller trimmer for around the ears/sideburns.

Saves me time and money!

You are fortunate...I had a similar situation for my 23 years living in The ATL...and before that in San Antonio for 5 years and other areas I've lived. My standard since college was old school barber...MUST haver Playboys mixed in with the Guns & Ammo/Motor Trends...straight razor for over the ears and neck...and I ALWAYS paid double+ of whatever was the price. I learned ALL this from my Dad.

Where I live now...I had the above the first 5 years here...till my Barber got caught up in some shenanigans (he was ALWAYS a GREAT source for 'Shine). Funny thing is...right before he disappeared (I hear he's in Myrtle Beach now- Armstrong's the name if you're in that area)..but BEFORE his disappearance...a couple "newcomers" were at a coupe chairs in the shop...I now go to THEIR new Shop...I pay $50 every 2-3 weeks, their price is $25 for haircut...no beard here.

Oh...and Playboy NO LONGER exists...
My place is still a straight razor neckline and ears, and straight razor shave. The chairs are over 100-years-old.

William's Barber Shop is an iconic place for Military folks here in Charleston. It use to be on the Naval Base when I first joined around 92. I got my haircut by him back then when I went through "A" school here. Shortly after that the base closed and he moved to Goose Creek where the Naval Weapon Station is. He is just outside the base. I've been station here 3 times after that at the Mine Shop on the Naval Weapon Station. I use to BS with him each and every time about cars and trucks. He loved cars, had a killer Red Lightning and then got a sick Vette. He passed away maybe 8 years ago and his daughter still owns the place. Only place I go even though it's a 20 minute drive one way. Navy hats all around the walls and a few of ours are there. It's now up to about 12 bucks for a cut but I pay 20 each time.

Way back I used to go to one of those cheap chainstore hair places. Like cut6 type.

There were 6 chairs, 3 or 4 cutters standing around, half a dozen guys waiting and one gal cutting. They would tell you they could get someone else to do you but "No, I'll wait for Jas".

She was something to see. Around 6 ft tall, tiny waist, mid-butt blonde hair and always leopard print spandex from head to toe. I don't think she owned a bra. I would typically pay $12 plus 30ish tip.

She let her regulars know she was quitting and starting a more exclusive service run out of her home. I never went in case it was a trick.

After that I couldn't go back to regular cutters. Picked up a Wahl kit and became a sorry victim of self abuse, hairwise.

The barber shop went under shortly after she left.

Place I went to in undergrad was $20 for a haircut, straight blade edge, and a jack and coke while you waited

Haven't found a true barber around where I'm at now, but there's gotta be one somewhere, right?

I go to a man's barbershop. Dude flat out doesn't cut women's hair. He won't even cut kids hair if their mom drives them to the shop because he doesn't want to hear any bitching.

Dikes pop in asking for a haircut so they can write shitty Google reviews and he tells them to leave.

$25 but I usually pay $30. During Christmas I'll pay $50 because it's the holidays.
