Looks like I'm shopping for a new mirror.

Aw damn, what happened? I want to avoid as many problems as possible with removing my mirror.
Only thing I can figure is the clips just had to tight of a grip on the piece that's supposed to stay with the housing. I took my time getting the glass off too. I was able to get it back together, but the cross piece that holds the adjuster broke.

sorry just seeing this but looks like you got it back together. was just going to mention that ive broken the mirror motor all the way down as far as it goes and is easily re assembled if a part broke you should be able to hit up a salvage yard and pull the motor out of any 94-04 mustang mirror and use it for parts

That's what I was wondering. I have a parts car. Just need to get to it.

Just wanted to add a trick I did with mine. I used a 90 degree "dental tool" to pop the tabs loose. Once I popped a couple tabs loose the mirror came right off.
